The Job: LNG and Gas Trading Analyst II


Purpose
The role is responsible to perform analysis, recommend hedging strategies, perform deal entry, communicate transaction details with external counterparties and provide information on EEMNA LNG activity.

Essential Job Functions

·  Coordinate communication between branch offices and third parties across multiple time zones (Singapore and London).
·  Quantify risk impact of changes in physical LNG shipping schedules and inform Front and Middle Offices of needed changes to external hedges.
·  Perform economic analysis for potential optimizations of LNG shipping and supply portfolio based on provisions of currently executed contracts, condition of shipping resources, and current price environment. 
·  Review and gain expert level knowledge on executed LNG shipping, sales and supply contracts.
·  Provide deal entry and other support to EEMNA domestic natural gas desk.
·  Provide ad-hoc analytics support to EEMNA management or GEM LNG management, and coordinate any activities with US-based contractors or shared service staff supporting the GEM LNG business.
·  Deal entry in the appropriate EEMNA/GEM LNG System of record for both physical & related hedging/derivative transactions.
·  Deal entry to facilitate allocation of third-party transactions to internal books.
·  Ad-hoc analysis and support to gas trading activities.

Requirements

·  Ability to analyze complex contracts and convert contract provisions to economic risk exposures.
·  Knowledge of commodities markets – particularly physical LNG and gas/oil derivatives used for hedging – and a very strong grasp of exposure, mark-to-market and risk measures.
·  Prior experience with an energy trading risk management system preferred.
·  Service oriented and willing to have extensive interactions with colleagues. Strong mathematical background (including non-linear or counter-intuitive calculations) and pay very good attention to detail.
·  Well-versed in Microsoft Office tools (particularly Excel). Strong affinity with IT systems, digital way of working & information systems. A good knowledge of VBA is appreciated.
·  Strong team player who is willing to work in an international trading business across time-zones (emphasis on working ‘early’ to ensure regular communication with Singapore and London).

Essential Physical Abilities

·  Ability to meet highest attendance requirements.
·  Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.
·  Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy.
·  Ability to use personal computer, calculator, etc.
·  Could involve some lifting.

Education/Experience

·  Bachelor’s Degree. Business, Finance, Management, Economics highly preferred.
·  2-5 years of related work experience.
·  Masters or Advanced Degree can be counted towards work experience.
·  Experience in a complex environment, particularly in trading floors or operations involving physical commodities.
·  Strong technical knowledge and skills.
·  Business sense, analytical and summary skills, good organizational skills, team spirit and a curious nature.
·  Previous experience in LNG operations or natural gas marketing preferred.
·  Previous experience with and ETRM such as Align, Allegro, or Endure preferred.
