Laborelec's Materials Technology Department specializes in materials-related issues encountered by power plants . Our primary task is to boost power plant reliability by analyzing and preventing damage, determining the life span of critical components to develop an optimal repair or replacement plan, and drawing up an effective repair and refurbishment policy. Our work involves analyzing specific problems and failure cases in the field, and carrying out projects which focus on generic problems.

Your mission

·  As a (Junior) Specialist, you will work on solving tangible problems and carry out longer-term projects, offering the opportunity to build up practical experience in the field and to enhance technical knowledge in one or more areas;
·  You will essentially work for nuclear power plants, in addition to conventional plants and industrial installations around the world;

You will work on non-metallic materials such as polymers, coatings and electrical insulating materials;
·  As the single point of contact for the customer, you will be in charge of defining the scope of a field intervention, coordinating the required lab analysis, interpreting results, and producing a report including recommendations for presentation to the customer;
·  Depending on your preferences and your particular talents, you could progress to a top expert role, a multidisciplinary or project management oriented role, or an operational role with technical management aspects, within Laborelec or the wider ENGIE group.

Qualifications

Are you passionate about technology, and considering a career as an expert?

·  You have an engineering degree in chemistry or materials science, a PhD in materials science or the equivalent by experience;

·  You have a strong knowledge in non-metallic materials;

·  A degree or experience in coatings or electrical insulating materials is an advantage;

·  Knowledge of analytic techniques (FTIR, SEM-EDX, DSC, TGA,…), degradation mechanisms and physical property testing is a plus;

·  You are passionate about technology;

·  You have strong analytical skills, you are realistic and have a pragmatic approach;

·  You are at ease interacting with personnel in the field;

·  You share your knowledge, and look for solutions with colleagues;

·  You are flexible and are willing to travel to carry out work on-site, including in nuclear installations, with international trips one of about a week;

·  You are customer-oriented, creative and capable of solving complex problems, proposing high-added-value innovative solutions;

·  You have high ethical standards and an inherent safety-conscious attitude;

·  You are fluent in Dutch, French and English, or could become fluent quickly;

·  Nuclear clearance is an advantage.
