ENGIE are recruiting for a Energy Systems Designer to be based in Canary Wharf. This is a permanent full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus and benefits package.

This key role will support the development of energy strategies and energy masterplans for urban environments (campuses, cities, districts, regions), with the objective of creating clear plans for the delivery of zero carbon infrastructure and services for these places.  This will involve data collection, energy forecasting and demand analysis, scenario modelling and techno-economic options evaluation covering electricity, heat, cooling and mobility, in order to identify cost-effective and optimal energy solutions for different areas.  

The role will typically operate as part of a wider project team, with both internal and external stakeholders

Impact:  

•Provision of assessments for energy solutions from whole sites down to individual assets level, including heat, cooling, electricity covering buildings, energy generation, distribution and storage, buildings, mobility, etc.

•Provision of support to internal and external teams with scoping and creation of energy assets, energy strategies and energy masterplans

•Assessment of energy innovations

•Preparation of clear and structured reports and presentations

•Effective engagement with internal and external project stakeholder 

Complexity:  

•Technical, carbon and economic analysis, modelling and concept design of energy assets covering the vectors of heat, cooling and electricity within complex systems

•Data gathering, analysis and modelling of whole sites including individual assets to understand local energy system

•Application of different concept design, modelling and optimization tools depending on specific use cases covering energy, mobility, buildings, etc.

•Working with multi-disciplinary and multi-stakeholder environment

•Creating clear and concise documentation of complex outputs for different audience

•Production of clear reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders

•Delivery of user-centric design of energy strategies, masterplans and solutions considering novel business models, energy market platforms, policy and regulation, user behaviours and finance and investment. 

•Ensure user-centric design approach

Required Qualifications, Skills or Experience:

•Degree in mechanical, chemical or electrical engineering, preferably in urban / energy / mobility systems or equivalent degree

•Experience in analysis, appraisal and concept design of technologies and/or systems for different energy vectors (energy, mobility, heat, cooling, etc.). 

•Experience in design / sizing / modelling of one or more of the following energy systems:

oGeneration, storage, energy conversion technologies

oEnergy systems for residential and commercial buildings

oEnergy infrastructures including heat and electricity distribution networks

•Experience in the creation of energy strategies and masterplans would be beneficial

•Experience in complex systems, system modelling, and design tools would be beneficial

•Experience in energy data collection and analysis (e.g. energy audits) would be beneficial
