ENGIE are recruiting for a Development Engineer to Join our Urban Energy Team you will be based in Kings Yard, London E15 2GP. This is a permanent full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus and benefits package.

Specific Requirements

• BEng / BSc Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Energy Engineering or Electrical Engineering related Degree (or similar subjects, minimum of a 2:1 standard).

• Approximately 2-5 years of experience in a relevant field or similar role.

• Assessing the feasibility (technical and commercial) of new connections to our district energy networks and stand-alone new district energy schemes.

• Assessing peak, annual consumptions and profiles of energy demands of buildings and supply from central plant including impact on CO2 emissions and understanding of planning requirements around this

• An ability to size and specify heating and cooling generation plant

• Experience of site visits and surveys to collect data for assessing feasibility and creating concept designs.

• Liaison with both internal and external clients, contractors and suppliers.

• Good knowledge of Excel and specifically working with energy models and commercial feasibility models

• Knowledge of concept design of energy centres, CHP, boiler, chiller and district heating network installations

• Knowledge of low carbon energy technologies

• Knowledge of developing Capex and Opex costings would be an advantage

General Requirements

• Project document control & management in line with the company Quality Management System.

• Operate within and adhere to the company Health & Safety policy and procedures.

• An attention to detail and a high standard of verbal and written skills.

• A team player with an ability to self-manage and develop projects from an outline brief and specification.

• A keen interest in combined heat and power (CHP) installations, district energy networks and low carbon energy technologies

• A natural aptitude for undertaking engineering calculations, analysis and problem solving.

• An interest in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics and energy transfer

• An interest in feasibility analysis both technically and commercially

Desirable

• MEng / MSc Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Energy Engineering or Electrical Engineering Degree (or similar subjects).

• Working towards CEng Chartered Engineer status.

• Supplementary safety and industry specific training (such as CSCS card, IOSH, CIBSE courses).

• Supplementary courses and qualifications in AutoCAD or other industry leading CAD and modelling packages.

• Experience of working on modelling software like EnergyPro, Termis etc. and/or experience of energy and pipe network modelling from first principles in Excel

• A working knowledge of relevant CIBSE Guides, British Standards, BSRIA, IGEM and other industry authority publications.

• An appreciation and understanding of the Construction & Design Management Regulations 2015.
