Under minimal direction, provide support for multi-client leveraged Unix, Linux and VMware environments.

Responsibilities:

Job responsibilities include day-to-day server operations and administration: responding to alerts, verifying operational status, responding to requests for additional services including server adds and removes, zoning, new server installations etc. Involvement in multiple projects including technology refreshes, new client installations and existing client upgrades is also required.  7/24 on-call pager rotation is required.

The candidate must have experience with the following UNIX OS flavors:

Linux:

·  Recent system administration experience with the latest and n-1 vendor versions of RHEL, SLES or OEL.
·  Familiarity with LVM and Linux native disk management is required
·  Familiarity with advanced network configuration and troubleshooting is required
·  Familiarity with BASH and/or Perl scripting required;
·  Familiarity with security standards and hardening for audit compliance;
·  Experience with OS installation, upgrade and system rescue is preferred
·  Knowledge/Experience with the following is an asset: HPE/IBM/Dell Blade Systems, Linux Clustering, NetBackup, HP Data Protector, native multipathing with SAN arrays from various vendors, Veritas VxVM/VxFS
·  Familiarity with KVM administration
·  Experience with patching and software management

Solaris:

·  Solaris 10 and 11 system administration experience
·  Security management and access control
·  Familiarity with network administration
·  Knowledge of SAN and storage management software
·  Experience with OS installation and upgrade, including Live Upgrade
·  Solaris zone management
·  Familiarity with LDOMs
·  Knowledge of at least one major backup/restore product
·  Knowledge of ZFS, vxFS
·  Knowledge of several clustering products, for example, Veritas Infoscale Availability (formerly VCS) and Oracle Solaris Cluster
·  Knowledge of at least 1 scripting language
·  Knowledge of SVM and VXvm
·  Experience with patching and software management

HP-UX:

·  HP-UX 11.v3 administration experience
·  Security management and access control, trusted systems
·  Familiarity with network administration
·  Knowledge of SAN and storage management software
·  Experience with Ignite-UX for OS installation, upgrade and system restore
·  Knowledge of HPVM management and HP-UX partitioning
·  Knowledge of at least one major backup/restore product
·  Knowledge of LVM and VXvm for HP-UX
·  Knowledge of clustering products, for example, Service Guard
·  Knowledge of at least 1 scripting language
·  Experience with patching and software management

AIX:

·  AIX 7.x administration experience
·  Security management and access control
·  Familiarity with network administration
·  Experience with SAN and storage management software
·  Experience with NIM for OS installation, upgrade and system restore
·  Experience with HMC and LPARs, PowerVM
·  Knowledge of at least one major backup/restore product
·  Knowledge of LVM 
·  Knowledge of clustering products, for example, PowerHA/HACMP
·  Knowledge of at least 1 scripting language
·  Experience with patching and software management

VMware:

·  vSphere 6.x administration experience, including ESXi and vCenter management
·  Knowledge of ESXi cluster, HA and DRS setup
·  Security management and access control for VMware
·  Familiarity with network configuration and setup including vDS.
·  Experience with SAN, including datastore clusters and Storage DRS
·  Experience with VUM for ESXi patching
·  Experience with creation and management of VMs, templates and OVF/OVA images
·  Knowledge of snapshots and cloning
·  Knowledge of P2V and V2V conversions
·  Knowledge of PowerCli is an asset

Cloud Computing:

·  Familiarity with cloud computing concepts
·  Familiarity with major cloud computing platforms: AWS, IBM SL, MS Azure, OpenStack.
·  Knowledge of private and virtual private cloud environments

·  Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
·  Must be able to work effectively in a team environment
·  Must be capable of creating and maintaining system, configuration and process documentation
·  Must be capable of making technical presentations to the internal team
·  Expected to participate in training and mentoring of peers

Process Skills

·  Prior experience in a Production Support environment preferred
·  Requires a general understanding of change/problem and ITIL processes (formal training/certification is not required)
·  Must be able to follow documented processes, and expected to provide feedback/process-improvement suggestions where applicable.
·  Must be able to plan and document system changes, with emphasis on minimal client impact and backout. Must be able to speak to the plan at change management reviews.
·  Must be able to document problem resolution steps and timelines, and speak to these at problem management reviews.
·  Knowledge of DevOps methodology

Other

·  Must have good organization and time management skills, able to deal with tight deadlines
·  Must be a self-starter; expected to independently supplement training as required by taking advantage of OJT opportunities within the team and HP online education.
·  Must be able to work flexible hours in order to staff customer change windows (typically weekends) and take advantage of on-job-training (OJT) opportunities with peers/mentors
·  Required to participate in 7x24 on call rotation

Technical Skills

·  Must have strong problem-solving skills, and be able to work independently or in conjunction with other teams/vendors to resolve problems.
·  Should be comfortable with most aspects of the Unix operating systems: paging/swapping, inter-process communication, devices and device driver fundamentals, and file system concepts.
·  Should be familiar with fundamental networking/distributed computing environments, concepts and troubleshooting.
·  Should be familiar with server security hardening, participate in security audits and protect servers against intrusion
·  Sufficient fluency in commonly used tools, such as MS Windows and MS products, VPNs
