Role Summary

We are currently hiring experienced Unix Engineers to work on a very exciting digital transformation programme for the UKs largest police force. We require experienced, client focused Engineers with a high standard of communication and documentation skills. All our Unix Engineers require good analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to own and run issues from start to resolution as well as being able to work on both project and BAU based work.

The successful candidates will also have experience building and managing Solaris 8/9/10/11 operating systems and RHEL 7.x and 8.1 server environments including regular patching as well as understanding of backup and SAN methodology.

ALL CANDIDATES MUST BE ABLE TO WORK A FLEXIBLE WORK SCHEDULE WITH POTENTIAL ON-CALL AND OUT OF HOURS DEPLOYMENTS.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

In particular, we are keen to speak with candidates with specific skills in the following:

·  VMware infrastructure v6/6.5 onwards – building RHEL vms.
·  Strong knowledge of Solaris Operating Systems (legacy and current)
·  Strong knowledge of RHEL 7.x and 8.1 Operating Systems
·  BIG FIX Patch Management
·  Shell / Python scripting – focus on automation
·  LVM Management
·  ZFS filesystem Management
·  HA (Cluster Knowledge)
·  Ability to Manage Large scaled Unix infrastructure
·  Disaster Recovery experience
·  Ability to work on more than one project
·  Experience of supporting a variety of Unix operating system
·  Knowledge of monitoring alerting, logging and status messages
·  Troubleshooting network issues
·  Fundamental networking knowledge – IP, DNS, IP routing, network address translation etc.
·  Strong troubleshooting skills and experience with Unix Server operating systems
