Essential Job Functions
· Assesses routine background information regarding the individual or group requesting insurance coverage using standard practices. Analyzes data to determine benefits and rates.
· Reviews basic insurance proposals, calculates possible risk, and assesses situations regarding insurance coverage.
· Gathers information, determines variables, and calculates individual or organizational insurance coverage cost. Reviews calculations and decisions with more senior members of the underwriting staff as required.
· Makes sound and timely decisions on client suitability for basic insurance coverage considering all pertinent facts and possible legal implications.
· Communicates and negotiates policyholder contract terms; prepares documentation of the policies in accordance with specified terms.
· Meets with clients to discuss their basic insurance policies in order to ensure appropriate coverage.
Basic Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
· Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field preferred
· Three or more years of underwriting experience
· Experience working with underwriting methodologies
· Experience working with insurance practices
· Experience working with organizational insurance procedures and policies
