· Job Description:
This position will assist with the administering & troubleshooting of our SaaS environments including Production and product development SQL environments in order to support DB deployment, availability, growth, and upgrades.
· Provide administrative support to the SQL environment.
· Tasks include:
· Install, monitor and support SQL server instances
· Install, monitor, and support various SQL High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions
· DB migration (i.e., to new servers), DB user administration
· Support client application installations
· Backup/recover/rollback production, test, and development DBs
· Troubleshoot application database connectivity, SQL server issues, query performance, SQL HA/DR, and other issues in production and development
· Coordinate/implement production fixes, or advise the application owner/administrator/developer, as appropriate
· Monitor & manage data storage capacity of production and test/development SQL Servers to support DB growth; coordinate drive expansions with DevOps through Change Management
· Complete and maintain inventory documentation of all SQL databases at the data center and cloud
· Work with DB/application owners to update status and complete missing information
· Decommission DBs: proactively identify obsolete DBs, obtain DB owner’s approval, archive & delete DB
· Utilizes best practices, work plans, checklists and defined processes
· Proactively supports application teams, ITO teams, and DevOps
· Performs SQL tuning. Provides advice on application data issues
· Develops and maintains database support documentation
· Designs database monitoring solutions and assists others in monitoring and proactively anticipating or identifying issues
· Takes ownership of complex database incidents and problems and provides resolutions in a timely manner
· Engages SMEs or vendors to provide assistance to resolve more complex incidents as required
· Nights, weekends, and non-regular hours may be required
· Qualification Requirements:
· Four (4) year degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or equivalent work experience
· At least 7 years of experience in a DBA role
· Experienced in troubleshooting database performance issues and SQL performance tuning
· Other assets:
· Development and production support experience in SQL Server 2014 or later
· Knowledge of SQL Server Management Studio, SQL Server Migration Assistant, T-SQL; a plus knowing SQL Server Integration Services, SQL Server Reporting Services, SQL Server Analytical Services
· Experience in installation, patching, backup/recovery, performance tuning and monitoring, scripting (Windows/Linux bash)
· Experience in Windows OS environment, Active Directory, Microsoft Team Foundation Server
· Networking, security and infrastructure experience
· Microsoft Azure (or any cloud), Azure SQL Database, Azure Security and PowerShell experience a plus.
· Other database experience in Oracle, Vertica (or other columnar database) or MongoDB (or other NoSQL database) a plus; Linux 7.x also a plus.
· Agile/Kanban, HIPAA familiarity a plus
· Medicaid experience a plus
