The Mainframe Operator works under minimal supervision in a 24 x 7 environment and operates, monitors and processes production cycles with predetermined deadlines. Troubleshoots, documents, and resolves processing problems in a multiple MVS/JES environments.

Performs system IPL’s and executes scheduled maintenance and changes and is responsible for bringing interactive regions up/down at scheduled times.

Identifies and resolves system problems. Responds to customer questions regarding mainframe services. Prepares or assists in the preparation of change records, problem records, service records and documentation.

Requirements

·  A minimum of 3 years Operational experience in an MVS / JES2 and/or JES3 environment running CICS
·  Sound operational knowledge of at least one of Control-M, CA/7 or ESP scheduling tools
·  Sound knowledge of Control-D output management tool
·  Sound knowledge of system management tools OPSMVS or Netview
·  The ability to provide level-1 support/problem investigation for failed batch programs and restart for CA-7, Control-M or ESP
·  Good understanding of Incident, Change and Problem management principles/methodologies
·  Responsibilities include providing first level of problem resolution, customer interaction, and initial point of entry into site for problems and information. Documents problem calls and escalates problems to appropriate support group.
·  Incident & Work Request Management
·  Monitor systems and identify, manage and resolve any system, batch, on-line, and fix issues as required
·  Timely incident resolution to ensure agreed SLAs are met or exceeded. Raising incidents within the service management toolset for any issue that will impact the availability or reliability of the Mainframe systems
·  Participate on a 24 x 7 x 365 (12 hour) continuous shift roster

Qualifications

·  ITIL Foundations V2/3
·  Certification in a Technical discipline
·  Australian Citizenship/PR is desired for this role.
