JOB OVERVIEW

The Business Support team provides technical insurance and reinsurance support to the business in a variety of ways from assisting external customers and internal colleagues with their complex technical questions to supporting market facing project work. If you like the idea of a role where you can develop breadth and depth of technical London Market Insurance knowledge, in a variety of different business situations, then this could be just the role for you.

In this role, you will cover a range of technical processes in relation to London Market Insurance and Reinsurance processes. Full training will be provided but as a starting point you should enjoy developing insurance technical knowledge, investigating and solving issues on behalf of customers and have an eye for detail and accuracy. 

ROLE PURPOSE

Working as a Business Support Technician you will review and validate customers’ technical questions and issues through to satisfactory resolution within agreed SLA timescales. Your role will include rolling out revised &/or new process instructions including the development of new technical work instructions.  You will need to have an eye for detail, have good written English skills and work to a high degree of accuracy. You will also need to be very observant and notice any discrepancies or errors within documentation.

It would be advantageous if you have an understanding of London Market practices or previous insurance industry experience, but not essential, as long as you have the willingness to learn the relevant technical procedures. Training will be provided if you’re not familiar with any of these terms.

Key Responsibilities

·  Apply technical and business knowledge to solve technical questions from both internal and external customers via the Remedy System
·  Draft and issue technical memos and work instructions
·  Update technical reference materials
·  Review customer service change requests and take ownership for implementing appropriate actions to ensure the change is implemented successfully and within agreed timescales
·  Ensuring high standards of quality are achieved in line with customer expectations
·  Effectively communicate verbally with customers internally and externally and possess good written English skills
·  Develop and maintain technical knowledge in order to efficiently and effectively complete work
·  Work with and seek the assistance of more experienced employees to deal with the handling of complex matters where required
·  Manage time and productivity effectively and work within established guidelines and service levels
·  Deal with and resolve problems with independent judgement where possible
·  Demonstrate and encourage commitment to team objectives

Essential Skills/Qualifications

·  Strong written and verbal skills
·  Strong organisational and personal management skills
·  Able to build productive networks and relationships with a variety of internal and external customers

Desirable Skills/Qualifications

·  Good working knowledge of the London Insurance Market
·  Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and Outlook)
·  Ability to work independently and as part of a team
·  Experience of working with DXC in house software applications
·  Good analytical and problem solving skills
