Job description

An opportunity has arisen for an exciting position within our Supply Chain department as Materials Operations Planner. You will be responsible for medium and long term planning of Raws, Packs and Semi Finished materials to support the Powders portfolio of products. Working within the S&OP process to plan achievement of business inventory targets and to highlight capacity gaps in vendor supply or supply point capability. The ultimate goal is to optimise the balance between the right availability and inventory costs to ensure the lowest total cost and impact on cash cycle.

We are looking for candidates who have significant experience within a Supply Chain management or Purchasing function and a degree in a relevant field. Previous experience in a manufacturing planning environment are an advantage. The right person will have fantastic commercial awareness, be system savvy, analytical, enjoy working with a wide variety of stakeholders and able to work under pressure and deadlines. In return you’ll get a fantastic benefits package and a salary circa £35k dependant on your experience. This role is a fixed term position for 24 months.

What would I do on a day to day basis?

·  To drive continuous improvement in our Materials Planning activity and add value beyond the transactional scheduling and execution. This will include forecasting for vendors and for our S&OP process, inventory and working capital management, vendor management and supply chain modelling.
·  Manage inventory of R&P, using quantity, physical space requirements and value as the drivers for decision making regarding
·  Age and expiration of stock
·  Minimum order sizes
·  Minimum delivery quantities
·  Lead times
·  Ensure reliable forecast to SSD for monitoring and creating new contracts but also to strengthen the relationship with suppliers on visibility, reliability and supply.
·  Drive vendor management initiatives and build link between SSD, Suppliers and Supply Chain, including taking ownership and participate in your part in regular reviews with suppliers.
·  Create the material budget & inventory outlook for Raws and Packaging and provide the latest estimates during the year.
·  Define initiatives for optimising materials management including, inventory optimisation, warehouse capacity constraints, supplier partnering
·  Monitor R&P inventory, blocked, slow moving etc, and seek for decision of stockholders.
·  Continuously challenge suppliers against the supply chain logistic requirements and drive changes.

What does the ideal candidate have?

·  Professional experience in a Supply Chain or Purchasing background with relevant degree qualification
·  Previous experience in a manufacturing planning environment and people management would be an advantage
·  Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
·  Excellent commercial awareness
·  Entrepreneurial attitude with drive to seek improvements
·  Strong analytical skills and comfortable working with lots of data
·  Good knowledge of IT systems (SAP R/3, SAP MRP, SAP APO, Office are an advantage)
·  Ability to prioritise and commitment to deliver business critical deadlines through the team
