Socomore and its industrial partner Flamemaster are seeking a Process Development Engineer to serve in a key role providing leadership and project management expertise in the manufacturing of industrial chemical sealants & adhesives in the plant of Flamemaster at Pacoima, California.
The Process Development Engineer will play a key role in the development, design, implementation, startup, and optimization of various new products process and manufacturing. The successful Process Engineer will provide technical responsibility for the scale-up of new products and assures quality systems are in place for processes.
He or She will work closely with the production supervisors, operators technical, development chemists and the management. He or she will work with the project team to find solutions to complex problems and complete projects on time and within budget to meet commercialization goals.

Responsibilities
-Conceive and execute laboratory scale, pilot scale, and plant scale testing and experiments to produce conclusive outcomes
- Perform laboratory or pilot scale test work as needed to investigate, troubleshoot, and improve operations
- Coordinate with manufacturing personnel, production planning and raw materials supply on implementation of new processes
- Design and evaluate alternative process changes to improve efficiency, performance, and reduce cost
- Assist with process planning and development to ensure quality products and safe conditions
- Promote process safety and risk management, while participating in quality and environmental management systems
- Develop and communicate cost, benefit, and risk information on processes and products
-Use project management techniques to schedule and track process development work
- Define and write the useful documentation of manufacturing processes
- Develop complete and accurate production logs that ensure safe and effective procedures for producing quality products
- Partner with Manufacturing, Quality Verification and other Engineering disciplines to identify product/process challenges and recommend/implement effective corrective actions
- Define and ensure the planning of prototypes, batches, respecting deadlines.
- Check with the procurement the raw materials inventory, stock tracking, raw materials order tracking and with the commercial team customer tracking, billing tracking.
- Coordinate the general planning of projects and deliverables, cost monitoring
- Monitor the equipment and implementation investments, billing planning.
- Manage the projects: Organization and planning of Internal meetings (agendas, key subjects, blocking points / defines the list of participants, timing, made and follow the action plan. Make sure that the support will be ready for internal meetings.
- Participate to the elaboration of all the documentation required by quality management or customers for product and process qualification

Required experience
You will need at least 2-3 years of relevant engineering experience in a production environment
Some experience in process and/or product development desirable
Other qualifications that will enable you to perform successfully in this position include:
Knowledge of sealant systems (polysulfide, polythioether, epoxy and silicone) is preferred. You have a thorough understanding of polymer/organic chemistry.
Knowledge of chemistry and polymeric materials, as it pertains to a manufacturing environment, is necessary.
Ability to create Materials & Processes engineering documents, such as procurement specifications and production instructions, is required.
Hands on processing of laboratory test samples is required, as well as an ability to support production line activities from a practical standpoint.
A basic knowledge of chemical plant unit operations (i.e. batch reactors, heat transfer, process control) and chemical plant equipment operations (i.e. pumps, piping, tanks).

You must possess prior project management experience with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Required education / certification / licensure :
B.S.(Bachelor of science degree) in Materials Science / Materials Engineering, or Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.
Valid Driver’s License and good driving record are required.
