WHAT DOES A JUNIOR BUSINESS DATA SCIENTIST DO?
As a Data Scientist you will work on solving a large set of business issues leveraging data science. As part of the Large Industries team in our office in Brussels, you will work on a strategic energy and sales project with a customer-centric and data driven orientation. Within an agile project team you will, together with two data scientists work on machine learning, statistical models, prediction & decision science, on a cloud based environment. On this path, you will interact with a network of experts to find new ways to contribute to the value chain of Air Liquide and its customers.
Location: Brussels, Belgium.

WHAT IS OUR EXPECTED PROFILE?
? DATA SCIENCE
Analytics & Statistics knowledge : You have theoretical and empirical knowledge on the various data science fields, from machine learning to statistics.
Data Scientist base skillset: You have started to build abilities and will to learn on the full end-to-end product development, with database handling (e.g. pgSQL), data science development language (R and/or Python), and front-end web-application development (R-Shiny and Angular).
Potential plus: Angular development capacity

DEVELOPMENT
Agile and DevOps : You are familiar with Git concepts, and want to develop your skills with continuous integration (Docker, Gitlab runners…). You are interested in Agile project management philosophy.
Looking to the Cloud : You are aware of the latest possibilities with cloud computing and are interested in learning about infrastructure as a code, cluster computing.
Potential plus : you are already familiar with AWS cloud with a will to learn on that platform.

BUSINESS MINDSET
Analytical Skills: You will work with a complex and constantly evolving energy market environment. You will need to be able to use data and analytical tools to propose optimisation and decisions. You will need to be critical towards data and not be taking the figures and explanations for granted.
Team player: you will work on project within multi-disciplinary and international team members.
Communication Skills: You will need to speak to people with multiple background and seniority level in the organisation.
Potential plus : Energy insights : you have knowledge on energy markets, learnt in an internship or scholar courses, going from technical analyses of time series to hedging principles.

WHAT ARE THE EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS?
The ideal candidate has a University Master/Engineering diploma with a specialisation in Data Science, Machine Learning or Applied Mathematics and some additional business orientation.
