GEM Business Unit overview:
The Global Energy Management (GEM) BU, combines all of the Group’s asset management and trading activities. Specializing in risk management and energy markets, the BU numbers 1,300 employees present in 16 countries. It delivers its expertise to all Group BUs and develops sales activities and new products for external customers.

ETS Department overview:
The power sector is undergoing fundamental change. In particular, three major trends, the 3 D’s, are driving this reshaping: decarbonization, decentralization and digitalization. Early 2016, the Energy Transition Services department (ETS) was launched in GEM with the ambition “to accelerate the energy transition through market solutions”. In particular, ETS is currently active (commercially and managing risks) in three main activities in CWE:

- Aggregation of Wind (onshore/offshore) and photovoltaic renewable (RES) production
(3000MW under management)
- Demand Response (400MW under management)
- Hydro energy management (800 MW under management)

ETS is also participating in prospective activities around smart grids, blockchain certification and Electrical Vehicles energy management. In this context, we see an increase demand of consumers (B2C, B2B, Giants, Territories) for renewable and local power. At the same time, renewable asset developers are looking for long term off takers as subsidies (feed-in tariffs, contract for difference) are gradually fading away. GEM wants to lead this shift in paradigm and wants to position itself as a mid-streamer, transforming risks between producers and consumers in a green merchant environment which led to the creation of this desk.

The missions of the Green Structuring desk are:
- Developing new long term renewable power market solutions that will address the needs of our upstream/downstream clients (corporate PPAs) and Engie’s renewable asset developer’s teams
- Pricing off-take products for upstream clients, coordinate set-up of new contracts and management of the Asset Portfolio in close collaboration with origination, trading and IT & Operations team
- Coordinate development/improvement of new models and methodologies in close collaboration with trading, risk, analysts, quants and IT.

Poste et missions:

In order to be able to innovate and answer to new customer and market needs, the team needs to develop new markets, products and tools to be able to model and price them.
The mission of the VIE will be to assist and support in the development of these pricing tools and methodologies by assembling and analyzing large datasets.
The VIE will also receive ad-hoc tasks as optimizing/automating processes, building pitch material, deal specific analysis (back tests), etc

Profil:
• Higher education, preferably a university degree in a quantitative area (finance, engineering, mathematics,…) or alternatively, an appropriate on-field experience.
• Comfortable with IT applications, particularly Python & VBA (must)
• Ability to Identify relevant data sources and sets to mine for business needs, and collect large structured and unstructured datasets and variables
• Ability to use algorithms and models to mine big data stores, perform data and error analysis to improve models, and clean and validate data for uniformity and accuracy
• Analyze data for trends and patterns, and Interpret data with a clear objective in mind
• Autodidactic mindset and ability to work on project basis mode
• Innovative thinker and team player with excellent social skills and the ability to operate in a stressful and demanding environment.
