Position Description

This represents an exciting opportunity for new members of the testing practice to work on a large, complex programme offering UK-wide benefits with mature test processes in place and significant time to run.

This role is based out of our Leatherhead offices, with a degree of flexibility around travel required. All candidates must minimally be eligible to be security clearable.

Your future duties and responsibilities
The Test Analyst will enjoy a varied and challenging role on the Smart Metering programme, effectively undertaking test planning activities for either Waterfall or Agile deliveries. The Test Analyst will produce and execute manual test scripts, carry out test analysis, plan their own workload, scope requirements, analyst functional specifications to derive test cases and participate in document reviews. This represents an opportunity to work with key stakeholders/clients, identifying issues and risks, escalating these appropriately and using knowledge gained to suggest mitigating actions.

Other aspects of the role will include reviewing own test conditions, test scripts, inputting test data and test execution, including running automated tests. The Test Analyst will liaise closely with the test lead and actively contribute to process improvement initiatives.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
The successful Test Analyst must demonstrate experience of working in a similar testing role in a delivery-focused environment, with well-developed technical skills, primarily around Functional Testing in a waterfall development environment. Technical tools of interest would include HP ALM / Quality Centre, JIRA, Rational toolset, Selenium, LoadRunner, etc. The Test team would look for proven understanding of Use Cases, the ability to follow test scripts and ably log/resolve defects.

Ideally candidates will be able to reviews system requirements and specifications, executes manual test scripts and records outcomes in an efficient manner and produce re-usable test-ware. The capability of basic scripting of automated tests for functional or non-functional testing is highly desirable, as is demonstrating a strong appreciation of both V-Model and Agile testing principles. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are an absolute must.

Any accreditation in ISTQB foundation is highly preferred, and further technical grounding across SQL, Unix, web, Client/Server and or Unix/Linux execution, software architecture (XML, SOAP, Unix/Linux knowledge) is advantageous. Any experience of testing XML message-based systems, such as those used within the electricity sector (i.e. DTC flows) or the telecoms sector would be strictly advantageous.
