We are looking for a Junior Test Analyst to come and join CGI (a Top Employer in the UK) to work w on Insurance projects including Medco (application to facilitate the sourcing of Medical Reports in soft tissue injury claims) and MIB (Motor Insurance Bureau). Location is flexible, ideally Chelmsford.

Your future duties and responsibilities
Engage with users, architects and other stakeholders to understand requirements and relevant standards and then agree test coverage.

Assess test baseline documentation, functional and non-functional, and prepare or maintain appropriate manual test scripts. Also execute manual tests with minimal supervision, whilst ensuring test coverage requirements are met.

Key activities

• Understand, quantify and document test coverage requirements.

• Where domain specific standards exist for test coverage, ensure they are understood and are complied with, and that appropriate evidence is available to demonstrate compliance.

• Review test baseline documentation, for example functional or non-functional specifications; High Level Designs (HLD); Hosting Design Document.

• Produce test scenarios and test specifications, ensuring that they are fit for purpose and are appropriate to test coverage requirements. Obtain sign-off, following agreed standards and processes.

• Produce test conditions and manual test scripts from the test scenarios and obtain sign-off; following agreed test standards and processes.

• Execute manual test scripts and raise defects as required, following agreed test standards and processes.

• Produce test records (test cases, test execution results, defects) in line with project and applicable domain standards.

• Contribute to defect investigation, collaborating effectively with other resolver groups for example developers.

• Perform peer review of colleagues’ scripts.

Testing

• Reviews system requirements and specifications, and has a good working knowledge of the scope and functional and non-functional requirements of the deliverable.

• Designs test scenarios and produces test conditions, mapping back to test basis documentation.

• Carries out test analysis to assess requirements and propose coverage and captures output in Test Specification or equivalent.

• Produces manual test scripts.

• Executes manual test scripts and records outcomes.

• Support defect resolution, liaising effectively with all resolver groups.

• Produces re-usable test-ware appropriate to the test analyst role.

• Uses test tools as prescribed by project or service for test and defect management and reporting.

• Capable of basic scripting of automated tests for functional or non-functional testing, once provided with the opportunity including appropriate support and training.

• Uses test and defect management tools for example HP ALM or Open-Source test tools such as Jira.

• Demonstrates an appreciation or automation capabilities within the BU.

• Demonstrates an appreciation of non-functional testing activities eg Usability, W3C, PCI Compliance (Payments) Security, GSD Standards

• Demonstrates analytical and problem solving skills, and the ability to investigate complex issues.

• Demonstrates an appreciation of both V-Model and Agile testing principles

• Has experience of creating automated test scripts

Test Management

• Provides regular and meaningful progress reports in line with project requirements.

• Adheres to test preparation, test execution and defect management processes and standards.

• Coaches and mentors more junior members.

• Manages small teams or work packages on a formal or informal basis.

• Identifies opportunities to re-use test collateral to reduce effort expended.
