Jr Technical Writer

Position Description
CGI is seeking to hire a Jr Technical Writer to join our team developing instructional materials and end user documentation for an exciting Client in the Financial arena.

Your future duties and responsibilities
Working in a team led by an experienced Documentation / Training expert, the responsibilites in this unique opportunity will include:
• Working with subject matter experts to obtain an in-depth understanding of system functions.
• Interpreting and translating requirements documentation into instructional performance support material.
• Producing end user documentation (ex. procedure guides and job aids) that meet applicable standards and are appropriate for the intended audience.
• Transposing help content into a Content Management System
• Using an approved detailed course design and templates, create in-class instructor-led training, virtual classroom webinars and recorded webinars to help end-users perform system tasks effectively.
• Creating data sets for use during hands-on training activities.
• Reviewing and validating content with subject matter experts and stakeholders, incorporating feedback and managing iterations, as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
o 2-3 years of experience creating online help or end user manuals or quick reference guides along with end-user documentation in a software environment.
o Formal completed degree or a diploma in either Technical Writing or Technical Communication, or degree in English or Communications with technical writing component
o Ability to quickly grasp complex technical and analytical concepts into clear, concise, plain English text and visual content.
o Ability to follow and use document templates successfully.
o Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills. French language skills are an asset but not required.
o Attention to detail coupled with effective analytical and problem-solving aptitude.
o Self-motivator with ability to work as part of a team or independently with minimal supervision or direction.
o Ability to balance and prioritize many diverse tasks at once.
o Ability to self-edit content, and content of other writers.

• Technical Knowledge
o Required - MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
o Familiarity with TechSmith Camtasia, Articulate, Adobe Captivate or other eLearning development software.
o Familiarity with SnagIt or other image editing software.
o Knowledge of AODA compliance
o Familiarity with Business Requirement Documents or Software Specification Documents
o Experience or knowledge of Regulatory industry an asset
