Your future duties and responsibilities
The Security Operations Centre (SOC) monitors security alerts and investigates suspected security incidents in order to make recommendations for containment and eradication.

As part of the SOC team, the SOC Security Analysts monitor security alerts, determine severity and impacts as well as participates in in security incident investigations and recommendations.

• Monitor security alerts of potential malicious activity detected by security systems such as: Intrusion Detection & Prevention Systems (NIDS/NIPS, HIDS/HIPS, WIDS), Log Monitoring, File Integrity Monitoring and SIEM

• Determine and classify the severity of alerts and assess potential impacts

• Report and investigate potential security incidents

• Provide recommendations to clients for containment and eradication of threats

• Maintain Intrusion Detection/Prevention signatures

• Update security operations processes and procedures

• Assist in IT security investigations, exercises and tests

• Research, consultation with colleagues and training to maintain awareness of trends in new security threats, technologies and regulations

• Since this is a 24x7x365 environment, shift work (rotation) is required

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
• Completion of a post-secondary educational program in IT Security or Computer Sciences from a recognized community college or university

• Strong troubleshooting, reasoning and problem solving skills

• Strong interpersonal relationship skills and experience communicating effectively with clients, vendors and colleagues, both technical and non-technical personnel

• Team player willing to share knowledge and learn from others

• Ability to speak and write in fluent English

• Ability to obtain a Government of Canada security clearance of Level 1 (Enhanced Reliability Clearance - ERC)

Non-mandatory assets:

• Ability to speak and write in fluent English and French

• One or more of the following certification: Security+, Network+, CCNA, ITIL
