Position Description
We are growing in Calgary, and are currently looking for a Senior GoldenGate Administrator, with a minimum of 3 - 5 years of GoldenGate administration, to help us do that! The successful applicant will be responsible for the GoldenGate Administration aspects of the in-flight Oracle ExaCC transformation of the GoldenGate environment on behalf of our client.

Your future duties and responsibilities
Operations includes, by may not be limited to: With a focus on Oracle ExaCC Project related activities, not general operations
• Monitoring replications, performance and overall system health
• Tuning performance to ensure synchronization rates meet business requirements
• Stopping and starting replications (e.g., during server or database outages, such as during patching)
• Applying minor changes to replications, such as table or column adds
• Refreshing data in target systems, along with the Database team when databases are refreshed or recovered. The GoldenGate administrator will need to coordinate tasks with Information Management, Solutions and/or Database teams.
• Owning the recovery of failed replications/synchronizations in order to catch up on the backlog of data in a reasonable amount of time. Strong troubleshooting abilities are an absolute must, and may require working with the Server and Storage teams in addition to database, Information Management, etc.
• Assisting in troubleshooting data, database or warehouse issues to which GoldenGate is coupled
• Administrators must be very strong in database and UNIX skills and tools
• Installing GoldenGate software and management processes; these are done in conjunction with the DBA team, as the duties are intentionally segregated
• Upgrading and/or patching GoldenGate versions (i.e., regular life-cycle management)
• Upgrading and/or patching when Databases are upgraded or patched
• Participating in the scope, design and implementation of Solutions projects
• Configuring replications (Extract, Pump and Replicate processes), as requested by Solutions projects, including scoping, design and implementation
• Modifying replications, as required when source and/or target systems change
• Maintaining project documentation (e.g., designs, mappings, diagrams, and implementation documents)
• Managing replication components within version control
• Providing proper hand-off to operations

The current environment is as follows:
• There are approximately 100 processes (i.e., captures, pumps, and deliveries) in the production environment. The majority of the applications that are synchronized with GoldenGate (i.e., source and target systems) are business critical.
• There are approximately 85 pre-production processes (i.e., captures, pumps, and deliveries)
• GoldenGate version in use is 12.3 running on ExaCC is 12.3, Oracle 11g and 12c databases, primarily on RedHat Linux, but with some AIX and Solaris
• SQL Server (GoldenGate for non-Oracle), if required
• Not licensed for any of the GoldenGate Management Packs
• The monitoring dashboard is custom web page built on top of UNIX scripts

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
• Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience of administering Goldengate preferable on an Exadata Oracle platform
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Diploma in IT with equivalent IT experience
• Excellent oral and written English communication skills
