Lead Cloud Consultant (AWS)

Position Description

The Cloud Consultant delivers public cloud focused consulting services in design and hands-on implementation. As a Cloud Consultant you will have experience of various cloud architectures (Private, Public Cloud and Hybrid) and Cloud migration strategies.

You will have a good understanding of the different factors which influence or inhibit Cloud adoption and will be able to guide clients to make the right choices.

The role will be based in Scotland (offices in Glasgow and Edinburgh) and will require frequent travel to other client sites and other CGI offices as necessary.

Your future duties and responsibilities
• Contribute specialist Cloud and Infrastructure Architecture knowledge and experience, specifically around Public Cloud Architectures.

• Deliver client engagements, designing and costing Cloud Architectures and migration projects.

• Work as part of CGI teams, or embedded in client teams, transferring your knowledge to colleagues or clients as required.

• Lead the design and/or deployment of cost effective Cloud solutions for either stand-alone engagements or as part of larger programme.

• Write and communicate proposals at a senior level, setting and managing stakeholder expectations.

• Expertly define, validate and promote quality solutions for an opportunity, bid or project as required.

• Promote the development and re-use of knowledge across the business as required.

• Provide thought leadership as required across our Cloud community.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
• At least 2 years AWS experience required. Understanding of other public clouds such as Azure and GCP a bonus.

• AWS certifications highly desirable, but not essential.

• Detailed understanding of AWS IaaS capabilities, features and services and/or a detailed understanding of cloud IaaS design.

• Experience of working in a DevOps environment, supporting developers with IaC tools such as CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible etc.

• Experience of AWS management tools such as CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Route 53 etc

• Desire and ability to pick up and learn new tools quickly and keep your knowledge current.

• Awareness of different application architectures and how different cloud architectures may or may not support them.

• You will be comfortable presenting solutions both in written documents and workshop situations, leading and facilitating discussions at a high level.

• Excellent client and stakeholder management skills.
