Jr Devops Engineer

Position Description
CGI is seeking a cloud-focused DevOps Engineer to support mission-critical applications for a large government agency. This role involves assistance in the administration, maintenance and automation of systems leveraging several diverse technologies including Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux and supporting infrastructure technologies such as Desired State Configuration Windows PowerShell, Hyper-V, PowerShell Core, and the Microsoft System Center Suite. This role also involves deploying various web application deployments involving Apache Tomcat and the Microsoft .Net Framework. The applicant will be expected to work well in an agile, ticket-based work environment. Direct support to development teams on an as-needed basis is also expected. This role not only involves the adoption and management that is in place for the current environment but also the development of new solutions and an eagerness to introduce major improvements as customer needs for innovation continue to grow.

Your future duties and responsibilities
Set up administrator and service accounts, maintain system documentation, and manage tuning system performance. Operational system activities include configuration management, application deployment, patching, updating and troubleshooting.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
Knowledge of core standards that apply to the IT industry including ITIL best practices, DevOps trends, SDLC management and general best practices around change control.
Minimum three (3) years of direct work related experience is required.
• Minimum three (3) years of experience authoring scripts for automation in modern environments using common shell languages such as PowerShell and bash.
• Conceptual understanding of Microsoft Active Directory, Windows Server 2012 R2 and later, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 and later, System Center and Hyper-V.
• Demonstrable experience in IaaS and PaaS cloud architectures, particularly in the realm of Microsoft Azure. Preferable areas of experience include Azure Kubernetes Services, Azure SQL, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Azure Security Center, Azure Storage, Azure Monitor and Azure Automation.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and lead technical projects
