Java Developer with Kafka

Position Description
CGI is hiring a Java Developer with Kafka experience for an exciting new project within our Banking group in Pittsburgh, PA.

As a Java Developer with Kafka, you should have 6+ years of experience including 2+ years of experience designing and programming solutions with Kafka using Java. You’ll have a superior software development background and be able to facilitate, design, and develop technical solutions for existing Java applications and processes.

Your future duties and responsibilities
• Responsible for sound and high quality technical deliverables.
• Work in an Agile environment and adapt to the changing needs and requirements of the business.
• Produce high quality code; following and recommending best practices
• You will resolve technical problems discovered by the team and internal clients. Responding in a timely manner. Researching issues and performing root cause analysis.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
General:
• Strong collaboration and communication skills within distributed project teams.
• Experience with Agile Methodology
• Good communication skills. Team Oriented and can work independently.

Must Have Technical Skills:
• 6+ years of experience developing enterprise applications using Java.
• 4+ years of experience in Spring Boot.
• 2+ years of experience designing and programming solutions with Kafka using Java
• 1+ years of experience with Kafka Streams and Event-Driven Programming
• Knowledge of Microservices is desired
• Basic understanding of Linux network and server configurations.
• Working knowledge in DevOps tools like Maven, Jenkins, uDeploy and Git.
• An inherent ability to solve problems and provide solutions.

Highly Desired
• • Experience with Spring State Machine or similar state machine frameworks
• Experience with RedHat, OpenShift Container Platform, Docker and/or Oracle DB

Education: BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, related IT field or equivalent combination of experience and education
