Java Developer

Position Description
Would you like to work for an organisation that builds satellite control centres and bespoke security solutions for critical infrastructure such as satellite navigation and aircraft communication systems? Would you like to work face-to-face in a team with diverse technical skills in a highly collaborative environment?

The project requires an experienced and mathematically minded Java developer to work as part of the algorithms team on a Navigation project. The role will include detailed design, coding and testing to exacting project standards. Candidates must be capable of: picking up complex concepts quickly; working to high quality standards; and working to agreed timescales. To work on this project, you must be a UK citizen and be SC cleared or SC clearable.

Your future duties and responsibilities
The responsibilities include:

• Writing detailed designs based on high level designs and requirements of components,

• Following the agreed design documentation to implement components,

• Developing and testing bespoke code

• Writing module & component test cases

• Raising observation/bug reports for issues in the system requirements, design and software.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
• Developing algorithms and working with numerical methods

• Test driven development

• Subversion or another configuration management tool

• Experience of developing to stringent development standards (Space, Defence standards etc.)

• Knowledge of Kafka

• Knowledge of Cassandra
