Information Security Engineer

Position Description
CGI is looking for a Lead Information Security engineer to join our team in Fairfax, VA.

The ideal candidate will serve as lead technical expert in the overall analysis, design, implementation, monitoring and support of an enterprise-wide technical architecture focusing on information security. To lead and conduct analysis of critical information security systems, network architectures and infrastructures to detect information security deficiencies and provide complex problem resolution. Consults across major client enterprise to assess risk and compliance in accordance with client security standards and instructions.

Your future duties and responsibilities
• Consults and coordinates with project managers, business application developers and ISD technical staff on projects to ensure technical architecture security design compliance, and recommends modifications. Provides expert technical consultation for new technology implementations. Oversees the evaluation and selection of hardware and software product standards, and the design of standard configurations for information security services. Reviews and revises systems documentation to maintain information currency.– Oversee/Direct
• Keep current with Information Security best practices and industry trends, and communicate/apply these practices to policy improvements and compliance actions– Expert
• Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of Information Security industry standards/trends, best practices, processes and technology; communicate information to team members - Expert
• Serves as expert consultant for all Information Services (ISD) and business unit security issues and problems. Evaluates problem, identifies root causes; coordinates resources, determines temporary measures and/or permanent solutions, and recommends and/or implements measures to restore full service. Leads Information Security staff in coordinating and ensuring problem resolution.– Oversee/Direct
• Leads and conducts analysis of critical architecture and infrastructure to detect security gaps or deficiencies in the information technology environment; recommends and implements solutions for improvement. Identifies and communicates opportunities to maximize value of information security technologies to Information security management and peers to improve/increase effectiveness, reliability, efficiency, performance and service.– Lead
• Perform security assessment and testing via static and dynamic scans, vulnerability analysis, and determination of security evaluation needs based on project and/or changes to client systems and critical assets – Expert
• Maintain thorough knowledge of and ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and client policies and procedures (i.e. Federal Financial Institutions Examination Manual (FFIEC), National Information of Standards and Technology (NIST), and International Standards Organization (ISO) - Expert
• Oversee and provide consultation to client technology projects and initiatives regarding procedures, protocols, standards and controls on behalf of Information Security – Oversee/Direct
• Build and maintain effective relationships and communications with team members, management, key stakeholders and/or contractors, vendors, etc.
• Lead, guide and mentor less experienced Analyst team members, serve as peer reviewer
• Identify and support process improvement opportunities for optimal performance and service as business enabler
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
• Advanced knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, rules and regulations (i.e. Federal Financial Institutions Examination Manual (FFIEC), National Information of Standards and Technology (NIST), and International Standards Organization (ISO)
• Advanced knowledge of NCUA, FFIEC, GLBA, ISO 27001/27002, SANS20, PCI DSS, and other Information security requirements and frameworks
• Expert knowledge of project management processes and methodologies
• Extensive experience in information security processes, concepts, principles, and methodologies
• Experience in Security policy and procedure development
• Extensive experience in working with all levels of staff, management, stakeholders, and vendors
• Significant experience in managing multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment to achieve goals
• Expert background in identifying information security risks and recommending appropriate countermeasures
• Expert research, analytical, and problem solving skills
• Expert skill presenting findings, conclusions, alternatives and information clearly and concisely
• Expert skill in producing desired results and achieving goals and objectives
• Expert organizational, planning, and time management skills
• Expert skill building effective relationships through rapport, trust, diplomacy, and tact
• Significant experience in leading, guiding and mentoring others
• Expert verbal and written communication skills
• Advanced skill in results-oriented leadership in a challenging environment with complex governance
• Exposure to the banking/financial services industry with a focus on Information Security and Information Technology

• Desired – Experience in the financial services industry with a focus on information security and information technology
• Desired – Professional certification in the information security sector (CCSP, CISSP, other security certifications)

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or the equivalent combination of training, education, and experience. A nice to have is Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field
