Job Purpose

 

This role will drive the continuous improvement and cost reduction of the product portfolio through analyzing data to identify key areas of opportunity or concern. Working with all appropriate functions these changes will be driven through to manufacturing.

 

Principal Accountabilities

 

·  Generate key measurables around the product and manufacturing for cost, manpower and lead time reduction exercises
·  Produce business case for improvements, project plans for implementation and risk analysis to provide a ‘right-first-time’ product and process
·  Run APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) quality management system for each project
·  Coordinate with all key stakeholders in driving projects to completion
·  Act as the Subject Matter Expert on all aspects of Vapor Devices
·  Act as key contact point for Project Teams to support trials, New Product Introductions and monitoring of performance data in cooperation with all relevant stakeholders
·  Manage Engineering Changes by raising ECNs, tracking development projects and liaising with identified participants to ensure project progress
·  Attend Technical Review and Approval meetings and Project Stage-gate Reviews to present the data and provide guidance to senior stakeholders throughout
·  Conduct root cause analysis into device quality issues and product returns
·  Develop design solutions to address product quality and / or performance issues
·  Review and manage device engineering documentation including engineering drawings, test reports and technical manuals
·  Lead the development of design validation and verification tests to ensure that new designs are robust and will prove reliable in the field
·  Work with suppliers on Quality Control Plans by identifying critical control elements and design risks
·  Work with suppliers and BAT departments on test protocols and test equipment to ensure reliability of data and product quality assurance.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

·  Degree in Electronics Engineering and experience of electronics production and processes
·  Experience in the use of CAD packages, specifically Altium or Solidworks PCB would be desirable
·  Experience in the design of high-volume consumer electronics products
·  Experience in interpretation of schematics and layouts plus Gerber file generation and testing
·  Experience in preparing engineering specifications
·  Good knowledge of manufacturing technologies and design for manufacture
·  Good knowledge of testing and measurement techniques for product quality and product performance
·  Good understanding of quality management including APQP
·  Good leadership skills and an ability to produce clear and simple plans.
