Technical Buyer (1902814) – McIntosh, AL

Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to join our McIntosh, AL team and support the day-to-day procurement activities for the assigned category mix and locations.

In this role, you will support your assigned sites and businesses with their procurement needs and will act as a first point of contact for the sites while coordinating within Procurement. You will routinely engage with the associated business units and suppliers to align supplier capabilities with BASF strategic priorities and explore creative and strategic supply solutions for new and existing technical materials and services. You will also support the North American region in the development of category strategies, providing regional input related to supply and demand market dynamics. Additionally, you will run reports in SAP and work with Master Data, performing analysis and data management.

You will be responsible for a significant amount of spend and multiple sites. You will provide a strong voice of procurement to both the site leadership team and business leaders who depend on the sites that you support. You will have a high level of autonomy and will need to proactively align internally within procurement and your supervisor to ensure effectiveness and strategic alignment.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Formula for Success

·  Demonstrating your skills in contract negotiations, you will lead and manage the sourcing process (RFI, RFQ, RFP, etc.) for key contracts and complex negotiations to ensure the most competitive supply advantage for BASF.
·  Leveraging your education in Engineering, Marketing, Supply Chain, or a related field combined with your professional experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering/Operations and/or Sales and Marketing, you will provide relationship management for key suppliers, which will include monitoring performance metrics, resolving claims and/or disputes, market intelligence, and other contributing factors affecting supply availability and pricing of products procured.
·  Your proficiency in market knowledge will serve you well as you conduct market intelligence research by interacting with key suppliers, industry associations, and internal stakeholders to collect industry relevant information and rationalizing to assess impact current and future to BASF.
·  Supporting the development of supply strategies for the North American region, you will work closely with the sites and the Procurement Category Management to develop and implement sourcing strategies for products related to this portfolio.
·  Being team-oriented and capable of working in a multi-task environment will be a valued asset as you support the purchase order creation and processing as appropriate.
·  Successfully engaging across the organization, you will work with all areas of BASF (Operations, Engineering, Accounting, EHS, Tax, etc.) and all levels of BASF, both global and regional.
·  Your exceptional interpersonal and communication skills will be essential as you work with a wide range of suppliers and multiple levels within the supplier’s organization to meet the needs of BASF.
·  Travel is expected to be up to 40%.
