Quality Control Lab Supervisor (1903119) – Manati, Puerto Rico

Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to join our team in Manati. In this role, you will demonstrate your bilingual abilities (English and Spanish) and be available for on call for lab issues.

Ensure all QC activities at the site comply with the relevant legal and Agricultural Products BASF requirements

Determine Product Release status by review and interpretation of data

Provide analytical support to resolve analytical discrepancies

Support Site Chemist’s efforts to improve analytical methodology using existing or new instrumentation

Supervise the QC Lab Technicians responsible for supporting operating units at the site

Pursue continuous improvement by review of literature, and new technologies

Develop, maintain and implement training matrix for QC personnel

Train QC Lab Technicians in test methods and validate Technician proficiency

Implement and maintain safe laboratory practices

Lead/contribute investigations related to product non-conformances to ensure true root cause analysis and effective corrective and preventive actions are implemented.

Lead and develop laboratory employees in meeting and exceeding organizational objectives in support of a high-performance team.

Publish monthly reports.

Ensure a safety culture among lab employees

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent





Formula for Success

·  BS in Chemistry or related field with at least 5 years of analytical lab experience

·  Puerto Rico Chemist License (Current) required.
·  Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience.
·  Demonstrated project management experience.
·  Knowledge of safe laboratory operations.
·  Lab experience must be broad based including chromatography, spectroscopy and wet chemical techniques.
·  In depth knowledge of analytical methodology and instrumentation - especially HPLC, HPLC-MS, NIR spectroscopy.
·  Be available for lab. call issues after hours.
·  Working knowledge of quality standards, GLPs.
·  Lean / Six Sigma and ISO 9001 certification preferred.
·  Experience in Agricultural Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Automotive, Food or related industries.
·  Solid organization skills, coordinate all site sampling and testing for the APN Product’s Re-release and stability programs. You will also use these skills to ensure all laboratory records, retain samples kept as per BASF Corp. policies and CAPA actions
