Quality Assurance Tech III, Livonia, Michigan – (1903804)

BASF’s PMN business is the leading supplier of Polyurethane Solutions for systems, specialties and PU basic products. With its global network of 39 polyurethane system houses and its comprehensive product and service portfolio, it is the preferred partner of its customers in many industries.

We are seeking a safety conscious, dedicated, energetic, team oriented individual to become part of a dynamic work environment contributing to a successful Polyurethane System business.  

The Quality Assurance Tech is responsible for performing in process and final quality assurance testing activities related to the batch manufacturing operations at the Livonia site.

 

Principle Responsibilities:

·  Actively participates in EHS initiatives and compliance; including adherence to established safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
·  Samples blend vessels to obtain in-process and final quality samples.
·  Performs required testing on in-process batch samples and finished goods to determine if product specifications are met
·  Works closely with other lab shift technicians to perform lab testing requirements and communicate results
·  Monitors and reviews instrument controls using routine instrument checks through calibration, verification, and/or validation
·  Operates auxiliary lab equipment (Band Saw, Water Baths, Centrifuge, etc.) as required to prepare and test the batch’s performance against specifications.
·  Establishes proficiency in and maintains daily input of data management systems such as SAP QM for purposes of COA generation, quality release, root cause analysis, NCM investigations and trend reporting
·  Reviews and approves incoming raw materials prior to release to production and produces product shipping documentation
·  Modifies and validates work procedures as required to ensure proper documentation of lab activities; inclusive of logbooks, databases, check sheets, worksheets, etc. 
·  Develops or modifies laboratory procedures as required to maintain safe work conditions and meet continuous improvement targets

 This position is 8-hours midnight shift (10:30PM – 7:00AM) with overtime as required

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…

Basic Qualifications:

·  High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications:

·  Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry – OR – Technical degree in Analytical Testing, Chemistry or related field.
·  A minimum of 2 years’ experience in quality assurance or a testing laboratory (college laboratory experience is acceptable)
·  Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point)
·  Experience in a production/operation role within a chemical manufacturing company
·  Experience SAP Quality Management (QM) System
·  Experience in ISO 9001:2015 compliance
