Quality Assurance Technician (1903129) – Wyandotte, MI

This position functions as support for Urethanes Products. The potential exists for multiple internal and external customer interactions to assist in the efficient coordination of nonconformance reporting, internal and external audits and document. In addition to providing administrative and technical support, this position exists as a support resource for the Quality Management Systems, providing floor level standardization of Quality processes across all shifts, including direct instruction via presentations into the organization.

This position reports to the TPU Quality Assurance Manager. The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for quality assurance testing of raw materials, intermediates, and finished product streams for Urethanes by conducting analytical testing in support of a 24/7 ISO 9001:2015 manufacturing operation. Evaluation of analytical data testing is based on both internal and external specifications. Our Quality Assurance Technicians will be expected to:

·  Evaluate incoming Raw Materials
·  Interact with the Operations Team to expedite shipment to customers utilizing SAP
·  Perform key tests include the safe, accurate and timely measurement of viscosity, bulk density, particle determination.
·  Perform Injection Molding, Physical Testing and Wet Chemistry of TPU products.
·  Utilize analytical methodology and an insight into problem solving on a daily basis.
·  Follow both written and verbal instructions, as well as all applicable safety procedures including wearing correct personal protective equipment.
·  Exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills
·  Have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment and interact with management and employees within the organization.
·  On occasion, will lift up to 49 lbs.

This position is 12 hour rotating swing shift with scheduled overtime as required.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…

Basic Qualifications:

·  High School Diploma or GED
·  A minimum of 2 years laboratory experience
·  A minimum of 1 year experience with Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications:

·  Bachelor’s degree or related Technical Degree
·  1-year experience performing a variety of methods utilizing both wet chemical and physical testing methods and performing instrument validations.
·  Experience running Viscometers, spectrophotometers, and other wet chemistry instruments.
·  1-year experience working with Standard Operation Procedures (SOP) and Good Laboratory Practices.
·  Experience with Plastic Injection Molding equipment
·  Experience with small scale laboratory extruder
·  Experience with physical testing equipment such as MFI, tensile/compression testing, hardness and thickness testing, balances and titration experience.
·  Knowledge of SPC and ISO 9001:2015
·  Experience with SAP.
