Where the Chemistry Happens

Quality Assurance Technician (2100146)- Wyandotte, MI

This position is responsible for quality assurance testing of in-process samples, raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods within the scope of the Company Quality Policy.  This position will work rotating, 12-hour shifts.

This is a high paced work environment where there is daily interaction with team members within the department and operations. Direct oversight by the Quality Manager will assist in prioritization, training needs, and development.

It is expected that the person will analyze data, document results accurately, and understand the chemistries and tools utilized within the laboratory.

There is limited external customer contact. They will need to build internal relationships and supplier relationships for trouble shooting, supplies, continuous improvement, safety initiatives, etc.

Use of appropriate software to evaluate data based on internal and external specifications.

Support the continuous improvement of lab and plant processes through QA/QC activities and meet and/or exceed customer expectations.

Analyze samples, provide quality data and become an active team member, along with the Lab Manager and Production personnel to provide innovative ideas to improve lab and plant processes and demonstrate continuous improvement-

Perform analysis of raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods, in a timely manner, to verify conformance to or prescribe appropriate adjustment to product so they meet specifications that have been agreed upon by Company and their customers or suppliers.

Ensure the suitability of laboratory equipment through proper operation, maintenance, calibration, verification and good quality control and assessment activities.

Generate quality data and significant statistical data to support plant personnel in their efforts to enhance process control, meet customer requirements and continuously improve our product quality characteristics.

Create, modify, and validate work procedures and ensure documentation of lab activities; inclusive of logbooks, databases, check sheets, worksheets, etc.

Perform all tests on applicable products Analyze and record the test results.

Effectively communicate results to the appropriate personnel.

Participate in safe work practices.

Interpret and follow documented procedures and STI’s.

Perform equipment control plan to verify conformance.

Work effectively in a team-based environment.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For In You…

Basic Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED required

2 years of laboratory experience in quality control or quality assurance required

Preferred Qualifications:

BS degree in chemistry preferred

Polyurethane Lab experience preferred

SAP experience is preferred

Analytical testing method experience preferred

Basic understanding of theory, operation, calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation such as gas chromatographs, viscometers, spectrophotometers, pH meters, titrators.
