Project Engineer II - 2002426– Monaca, PA

 
Where the Chemistry Happens
  We are seeking a professional like you to provide technical engineering assistance for the development and execution of capital projects. You will provide support to other technical initiatives as needed for operational support and plant optimization. In addition, you will work in close collaboration with other project engineers/managers at the site, providing technical support for capital project management when needed.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Formula for Success

·  Utilizing your B.S. Degree in Engineering (Prefer Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical) in addition to 2+ years' engineering experience with Project Management focus in manufacturing.  Additional experience with goal setting, Critical Path schedule development, forecasting and tracking
·  Experience in managing contractor activities.  Experience in use of technical codes (ASME, API, etc.) and equipment/piping specifications.  Experience in cost estimating, project scheduling and project construction a plus.
·  Technical understanding of general chemistry principles and common chemical plant unit operations and equipment
·  Strong project management and organizational skills to independently coordinate identification of project objectives, project design and installation activities
·  Understanding of OSHA regulations including process safety management
·  Knowledge of SAP functions for project management, technical purchasing and maintenance and background in controls systems (DCS / PLC)
·  Understanding of the BASF Capital Project Implementation Process and experience in leading EHS Capital Project Reviews
·  Developing initial scopes for projects in conjunction with production, development and business personnel by organizing the efforts of the various groups, scheduling reviews and documenting the consensus of the group.
·  Managing monthly project reports and tracking. 
·  Independently overseeing completion of cost estimate, project schedules, design and construction for capital projects. Performing (or overseeing work of others) to ensure that projects result in safe and efficient process/installations that are designed to the correct specifications and meet the needs of the business.
·  Supervising others directly (contract engineers and construction contractors) or indirectly (operators and mechanics). Maintaining safe mindset by using experience to train others on potential hazards and ensures efficient work by proper planning.
·  Contributing to operational improvement and safety improvement by monitoring activities at the site and submitting ideas for projects, process improvements and safety improvements on an ongoing basis. Taking initiative to coordinate and implement these improvements.
·  Working within the BASF documented business management system, policies, procedures, etc. (ISO, RCMS, PMS).
