What You'll Be Doing - The Project Engineer role is a key position at the Newport site. The position is responsible for ensuring safety, productivity, and capital project implementation is executed every day in line with the expectations of the Project Engineering Group Leader.

·  Support and adhere to the principles of the American Chemistry Council's Responsible Care® by protecting the environment, health, safety and security of our employees, contractors, carriers, distributors, visitors, customers and neighbors. Comply with the requirements of the ISO9001:2015 Quality Management System. Support behavior-based safety (ERP) through safety contacts and supporting SIREN observers on your team to complete behavior-based observations in support of an improved safety culture.
·  Develop project scopes (incl. PFD's, P&ID's, specification sheets, equipment sizing, etc.) generate and/or obtain cost estimates, and prepare project submittal documents to obtain necessary funding authorizations.
·  Ensure that the capital investment projects comply with Corporate Technical Guidelines & site/corporate EHS guidelines.
·  Organize, plan, supervise and manage all activities associated with minor capital investment to achieve the requirements of a given project in a timely and cost-effective manner as defined by the business needs to ensure business targets are achieved.
·  Provide technical expertise and best practices to implement the project engineering requirements of the site and represent the engineering department as a technical authority to define the concept scope and approach on minor capital projects through to completion & operational.
·  Provide support to manufacturing and process development teams in areas of project related activities. Devise and develop cost effective /cost saving opportunities which will support the business needs.

Required

·  BS in electrical, chemical, or mechanical engineering.
·  Minimum 5+ years project engineering or related experience within a chemical plant environment.
·  Working knowledge of capital project implementation process from initial realization of the project through to commissioning and startup in the field.
·  Direct experience in communicating with technical professionals and managing tradespersons & contractors.
·  Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills are required.
·  Strong technical skills to help learn/apply troubleshooting problems in the different manufacturing areas to optimize plant performance.
·  Well-developed and practical knowledge of occupational and process safety requirements (LOTO, Confined Space, Hot Work, PPE, etc)
·  Demonstrated agility in the following competencies: Teamwork, Customer Focus, Collaboration, Entrepreneurial Action, Strategic Thinking, Business and Financial. Bonus Points

·  Do you have experience using SAP and MS Office? Great!
