  Where the Chemistry Happens…   Polyurethane Laboratory Technician (2002776) – Wyandotte, MI

  The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for preparing and testing polyurethane formulations in the laboratory using a range of small-scale techniques and pilot scale machines.  They will work safely when handling liquid and solid materials to prepare formulation blends, test coupons, and when running test equipment.  The Laboratory Technician will contribute to equipment maintenance, writing of SOPs, and maintaining of a safe and clean work environment.

  Successful candidate will:   Work with the Scientist to design, prepare, and optimize formulations.

Carry out laboratory work independently, from formulation to application testing.

Operate and maintain pilot scale mixing equipment. Generate and record data from laboratory evaluations; report qualitative and quantitative findings.

Contribute to writing SOPs for laboratory tasks and equipment. Keep equipment calibration records. Generate ideas that improve the safety, efficiency and overall effectiveness of the laboratory.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…

Basic Qualifications 
  High School Diploma or GED is required

2 years of experience in a laboratory environment is required

6 months experience of product formulation is required

6 months experience of machine equipment operation (for material processing) required

 
Preferred Qualifications
  Bachelor's Degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or scientific field is preferred

Experience in chemical and mechanical material testing is preferred

Experience in writing and following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) is preferred
