RESPONSIBILITIES

The BASF wheat strategy for Europe is to establish hybrid wheat in the key markets Germany, France, Poland, UK and Ukraine. Therefore we need your support to develop hybrid parents which in combination bring forth high performance hybrid varieties for the German and Polish market.

·  In your role as Parental Development Breeder you will develop a state-of-the-art breeding strategy for hybrid wheat together with European and Global heads of wheat breeding by integrating new breeding technologies.
·  Within the parental line development you will implement the Native Trait Deployment strategy, report the progress regarding this strategy and allocate appropriate resources on elite crossing, line augmentation, and traits deployment.
·  To make BASF Wheat Breeding visible for national and regional stakeholders you will be part of breeding associations as well as symposiums and represent the unit in countries with collaborative projects for breeding and native trait discovery.
·  You will manage the Parental Breeding team in Gatersleben and ensure the compliance with safety, stewardship directives and quality standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

·  2-5 years of experience in a commercial plant breeding company
·  scientific degree specialized in Genetics or Breeding
·  fluent in German and English
·  self-reliant development, planning and conducting of applied research projects
·  willingness to improve leadership skills by participating in relevant training programs
