  Operations Manager – Chattanooga, TN - 2002604

  This position is responsible for leading the operations team in the manufacture of EDN products to meet customer requirements.  Ensure the safe, environmentally sound, efficient, and effective operations of the plant. 

Team management and development includes production and logistics coordination, resource planning, and scheduling. This position is the primary interface and responsible for leadership of the team in collaboration with regional and global business colleagues, Technology, EHS, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, R&D, and Controlling.  

Shared responsibility for all Operational Excellence (OpEx) metrics, including $15M+ fixed cost budget, $3M+ capital budget, and challenging EHS and Quality targets.

 

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Formula for Success :

·  BS Degree in a technical area required.  BS Degree in Engineering, Science (or related field) is preferred.
·  Lean and Six Sigma green belt certification required.  If incumbent does not have certification credentials, he/she will be required to obtain yellow belt certification within 6 months of start date, followed by timely certification of green belt.
·  Experience in a minimum of two different positions in a manufacturing/business environment required and practical application experience with at least 2 years in each manufacturing position including mid-term planning for operational activities.
·  Prefer working knowledge of chemical/mechanical engineering principles, applications, and safety.  
·  Must be able to apply statistical process control and problem-solving techniques.
·  Comfortable interacting at all levels of the organization.
·  Demonstrated leadership and management capability.
·  Excellent individual and team facilitation skills required. 
·  Well-developed communication and influencing skills.
·  Demonstrated ability to facilitate and/or lead project teams to successful implementation is required.

Responsibilities
·  Provides direct and indirect leadership and management of the all plant Operational personnel, including Shift Supervisors, Contractors, and PMUs, including coaching, disciplinary issue management, operational communication, performance management and development. Develop and communicate clear goals for the Shift Supervision. Scheduling of the hourly workforce.
·  Collaboration with all other Site and Business functions for new product introduction and optimization; daily problem solving; and to ensure customer quality, regulatory, and stakeholder requirements are met in a complex and demanding set of businesses with multiple commercial stakeholders and many customers.
·  Accountable to lead team in creating OpEx EBIT Contributions including variable cost, fixed cost, and output/capacity increases via more efficient/effective operations.
·  Ensure employees and imbedded contractors are on boarded, trained and complying with BASF policies/procedures, as well as EHS, quality, customer, and production standards. 
·  Must have a high degree of initiative and ingenuity to work with production, contractors, engineering, maintenance craft persons and other site and off-site functions (Commercial, HR, QC/QA, Technology, Engineering, R&D).
