Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to be responsible for providing instrument and electrical engineering expertise to an assigned area of the site.  In this role, you will assure proper design, installation and repair of instrument and electrical equipment according to regulatory and BASF standards.  You will provide expertise to support maintenance, operations, and capital project activities. Additionally, you will ensure a culture of continuous improvement employing LEAN Manufacturing tools. The scope is instrumentation, some controls (DCS/PLC) and electrical, typically less than 600 volts.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Formula for Success

Leveraging your education in Electrical or Chemical Engineering and experience in petrochemical instrumentation and/or electrical maintenance, you will provide troubleshooting support and recommendations to operating units on equipment repair/ reliability, including emergency work reviews.Leveraging your industry knowledge and experience in SIS (Safety Instrumented Systems), you will provide oversight to ensure design and maintenance compliance is properly met. Demonstrating your knowledge and experience in providing technical guidance, you will provide technical support to the Maintenance Supervisor, specialists and craftsmen on difficult repair activities.Your strong problem-solving ability will be essential as you participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis and execute corrective actions for complex and/or repetitive problems.Utilizing your broad based, hands on knowledge and experience with various types instrumentation and control valves, you will initiate and/or modify predictive and preventive maintenance programs as necessary.Using your proven organizational skills, you will be responsible for defining and ensuring strategic spare parts are managed and maintained.Striving for innovation and thinking analytically, you will support project design, commissioning and startup activities.Your effective communication and interpersonal skills will be a valued asset as you assist in recommending training and development options for in-house maintenance resources.
