Maintenance Technician (1903954) – Livonia, MI

 

Livonia, MI Polyurethane Systems House is seeking a self-motivated Maintenance Technician to join the Maintenance Team in a polyurethanes batch operation.  The successful candidate will have the skills necessary to ensure proper and timely maintenance is completed, in a cost efficient, safe and environmentally responsible manner.  The self-directed candidate will report to the Maintenance and Capital Engineer.

The Livonia site is a stand-alone site, located approximately 25 miles northwest of the Wyandotte site.  All production equipment is located indoors.  Livonia is one of 9 North American Systems Houses, making customized resin and isocyanate products.  The site is open M-F, 24-hours a day. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:  

·  Work in an environment that demands the highest level of safety performance 
·  Perform routine and preventive maintenance on plant equipment and all areas of the building, in a timely and efficient manner
·  Troubleshoot, diagnose and solve maintenance issues on stationary and rotational equipment.
·  Must be willing and able to work alone when necessary, in completing maintenance work
·  Must read, comprehend, and execute tasks and concepts found in technical operating and maintenance manuals, and other written documents
·  Must know how to use typical maintenance hand tools, power tools, cutting and burning equipment, welding equipment and pipe threader
·  Operate mobile equipment such as scissor lift, boom lift, fork trucks
·  Work at elevated, confining and cramped conditions, at varying ambient conditions
·  Complete all paperwork and computer work in an accurate and timely manner
·  Keep office, maintenance shop and work areas clean and organized, including paper files.
·  Wear prescribed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensure that prescribed safeguards are properly followed
·  Understands that Safety and Environmental responsibility is a major part of BASF’s
·  Principles.  Must report all unsafe conditions and accidents immediately to the appropriate manager.  Responsible for the safety of self and others
·  Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. and perform general labor work.
·  Have a basic understanding of single and three (3) phase electrical systems is required
·  Knowledge of maintaining pumps, air compressors, chillers, boilers, vacuum pumps, HVAC equipment and plumbing systems is required
·  Ability to read and interpret blue prints, schematics and P&ID’s is required
·  Work overtime on a regular basis when the need arises and take part in the maintenance on-call schedule

Basic qualifications:

·  High School Diploma or GED.
·  A minimum of 3 years of maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing environment. Preferred qualifications:

·  Professional trades degree or certificates from an accredited organization or school
