Description
Objective of the Position:
· To assist in the management and control of the importation of goods through tracking of shipments upon arrival at port, customs clearance, up to delivery at destination.
· To provide accurate and timely updates of the status of the shipment to all stakeholders.
Main Areas of Responsibilities:
Importation Operations
· Monitors shipment arrival from supply point and coordinate with Logistics Service Provider (LSP) for Customs clearance.
· Checks completeness and accuracy of shipping documents including licenses and/or import permits.
· Validates Harmonized System codes used and validates cost computations.
· Secures Advanced Shipping Note (ASN) from Shipping Lines and forward to LSP.
· Monitors shipment schedule and ensures that all milestones are updated in the Shipment Monitoring Report.
· Cascades delivery instructions to LSP.
· Coordinates container delivery after considering: status at port, storage fee, demurrage free time and reefer container charges.
· Communicates with Customer Service Officers (CSO) on releasing and delivery of shipment to customer’s site.
· Files Non-Conformance Management (NCM) report within specified lead time and with complete documentation.
Invoice Verification and Billing
· Checks accuracy of invoices from LSP and ensure that all charges are within the agreed standard before processing payment.
· Raises dispute for any billing error and monitor payment completion.
Compliance and Other Processes
· Executes activities in line with standard policies and procedures of BASF and of government/regulatory agencies.
· Ensures proper safekeeping of shipping and related documents for audit traceability.
· Documents or updates process steps in accordance with applicable guidelines.
· Recommends solutions/alternative processes to logistics issues/concerns of business units.
Job Requirements:
· Bachelor’s Degree in any field, Customs Administration or Industrial Engineering preferred.
· At least 1-2 years of experience in handling importation and exportation of goods, preferably in a multi-national company or large local companies.
· Possesses basic knowledge of import licenses; environment, safety and health; transportation and distribution safety, and global trade control.
· Demonstrates good analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
· Has good organizational skills, a proactive mindset, and ability to multitask and prioritize work.
· Demonstrates personal leadership, strong customer service, professionalism and integrity at work.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; experience in SAP is a plus.
· Willing to work on contract for 6 months.
