Job description
The Process Research and Chemical Engineering Division brings together a variety of competencies, including inorganic chemistry, organic synthesis, battery research, catalysis, process development and technology, as well as technical services for laboratories/technical centers. In interdisciplinary global teams, we develop innovative products, processes and technologies for a sustainable future and work with internal partners and customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Become a part of our Chemical & Process Engineering unit and support us as an intern for a period of 6 months in the research and development of membrane processes.
· The focus of this internship is on "Improved Membrane Plant Design through Simulation, Optimization and Machine Learning".
· You will transfer an existing design tool from Excel to Matlab.
· You will extend and validate this model based on existing designs.
· Subsequently, you will apply optimization algorithms or machine learning for the improved design of membrane plants.
QUALIFICATIONS
· above-average degree in chemical engineering, process engineering, computer science or mathematics
· good knowledge of mathematics (linear algebra, numerical simulation) as well as process design and flow sheeting
· secure handling in a programming language, preferably Matlab, Python or VBA
· expertise in the fields of membrane processes and process simulation is an advantage
· good knowledge of English and German
· high level of motivation and initiative
