Instrumentation/Control Systems Engineer (1901969) – Wyandotte, MI

Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to provide Instrument & Controls engineering, primarily supporting Wyandotte, MI and Canadian plants and expansions including conception, design, execution and management of 3rd party engineering partners within I&C. This includes interaction with other sites and North American personnel to review, validate, and provide feedback on new and revised BASF Technical Standards, Corporate policies and procedures.

This is an excellent opportunity for you to demonstrate your experience in advanced instrumentation specification and technical support for capital projects and operations. You will also specify and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLC). Additionally, you will have the ability to showcase your understanding of serial communication and interfacing, industrial field bus networks, the Purdue model – ISA 99 and OPC standards.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Formula for Success

·  Leveraging your education and experience in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline, you will demonstrate your understanding of typical process control techniques such as PID, cascaded master/slave, split range, providing technical direction, advice and consultancy support on instrumentation, controls related topics. Relying on your experience with control panel layout and design, you will specify instruments and instrument requirements for equipment, including SIS systems. Utilizing your well-developed troubleshooting skills in instrumentation, you will diagnose I/O related issues within PLC and remote IO systems. Your ability to interact and communicate at a high level in manufacturing technical discussions will aid you in working collaboratively with Process & Operations Engineers and Maintenance personnel.
·  Your sound leadership and management ability will be a valued asset as you cultivate third-party engineering partners to achieve project objectives and demonstrate customer focus.
·  Your strong commitment to workplace safety will be evident as you understand local and national safety standards and collaborate in hazard risk analysis and safety assessments.
·  Demonstrating your in-depth technical experience in process instrumentation and controls, including familiarity with pressure, temperature, level, flow and process analyzers measurement technology, you will maintain instrumentation, functional design specifications / documents and P&I diagrams.
·  Utilizing your proven experience in designing, implementing, programming and commissioning PLC, and Building Management Systems (BMS) control systems, you will be responsible for the interpretation and adherence to BASF Technical Standards, industry standards, and applicable regulatory and design codes, as applicable to specific projects.
