Objectives of the Position         

Why does this position exist?  With what permanent objectives?
Within the global unit, Scientific Information (G-FLP/C) as integrated part of global IP, a comprehensive coverage of information search and analysis needs, is a key part of BASF's business success. This position contributes to a proper coverage of BASF technology fields and a regional presence of information analysis embedded in a global network, for an efficient and sustainable support to different BASF units.
    Key Activities MAIN TASKS  
·  Acting as a professional partner for BASF’s IP and other departments in India, with respect to scientific-technical and patent information in the field of materials and polymers.
·  Advising BASF employees globally in all aspects of professional scientific-technical and patent information management.
·  Provide patent and literature search and analyses using professional tools for research, business and intellectual property purposes.
·  Use networking to identify needs and requirements across BASF business and R&D units.
·  Identify and evaluate the information needs of the communities globally together with the Scientific Information units.
·  Use and support developing machine based learning and other AI supported tools together with the Center of Information Excellence within Scientific Information
·  Work in close cooperation with the Scientific Information in Ludwigshafen, Germany.  

Educations and Working Experience (Qualification):

·  Master’s degree in in Materials or Polymer Sciences, preferably PhD.
·  Sound knowledge and industrial experience of 5-6 years in information retrieval and analysis in the area of materials and polymers
·  Basic knowledge about semantic searching and use of machine-based learning methods in information analyses
·  Excellent English in writing and speaking
·  Team player, but working independently with focus on result and achievement
·  Pleasant and highly responsible work attitude
·  Strong communication skills
·  High sense of confidentiality
