Where the Chemistry Happens

 

We are seeking a professional like you to join our team.  In this role, you will provide your subject matter expertise and leadership regarding Fixed Equipment design, repair, alteration, re-rate, and fitness for service.  The scope includes pressure vessels, storage tanks, heat exchangers, piping, etc. Your responsibility stretches across the Geismar and North Geismar plants and interfaces with Inspections, Production, Maintenance, and Capital Projects.  You will be responsible for making maintenance-related decisions within the current overall economic context of the business.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Formula for Success
 

·      Leveraging your educational background in Mechanical Engineering and professional experience in the chemical, petrochemical or refinery industry, you will provide technical knowledge and expertise to ensure compliance with all applicable inspection and repair codes for complex fixed equipment.

·     Your strong organizational skills will be critical as you communicate technical guidance and information with engineering counterparts.

·     Successfully engaging across the organization, you will work with Production, Maintenance and Engineering regarding fixed equipment troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, evaluation, rerate, fitness for service evaluation, etc.  Additionally, you will consult with Operations, Engineering and vendors.

·     Relying on your robust technical knowledge, you will provide alteration and/or repair recommendations and plans for fixed equipment based on inspection findings, improvement recommendations, etc.  You will also use this knowledge to provide recommendations for inspection type and/or frequency changes based on inspection history, current inspection findings, change in service conditions, changes in corrosion rates/mechanisms, remaining life, etc.

·     Your solid leadership skills will be essential as you provide engineering oversight for fixed equipment repairs or alterations both on-site and off-site, including scope development, shop surveillance, development of inspection plans and hold points, etc.

·     Demonstrating your experience with Root Cause Failure Analysis, you will participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis and execute corrective actions for complex and/or repetitive problems.

·     Focused on continuous improvement, you will support the reliability processes to drive improvements, optimize costs and improve asset effectiveness.

·     Your strong business and financial acumen will aid you in evaluating new technologies and alternatives for equipment repair, seeking cost and delivery advantages.
