What You'll Be Doing - The Finishing PMC role is a key leadership position at the Newport site.  The position is responsible for coordinating the maintenance of the Milling and Semi-Finishing operational assets to ensure equipment is maintained in safe working order in support of Finishing asset effectiveness. The role is also critical to developing the equipment troubleshooting skills of the Milling and Semi-Finishing crew leaders and operators in support of the MPI Process and the Toyota Production System.

·  Support and adhere to the principles of the American Chemistry Council's Responsible Care® by protecting the environment, health, safety and security of our employees, contractors, carriers, distributors, visitors, customers and neighbors.  Be knowledgeable of and follow all Environmental, Health and Safety practices including but not limited to: manage waste movements according to satellite and/or 90-day accumulation requirements, inspect air contaminant sources and institute corrective action for out-of-spec conditions, prevent releases into the sewer and/or stormwater systems by following BMPs (best management practices), activate BASF emergency response procedures in case of spills or other emergencies.  Comply with the requirements of the ISO9001:2015 Quality Management System.

·  Coordinate Grade Change and Maintenance Outage activities to ensure adequate planning of resources such as maintenance personnel, contractors and operations personnel.  The planning should maximize asset effectiveness while supporting mechanical integrity compliance and process safety.

·  Support development of Finishing standard work in conjunction with the TPS Leads, Finishing Unit Leaders, the Production Manager and other site support personnel.

·  Ownership for developing autonomous maintenance activities for the Milling and Semi-Finishing operations.  This includes equipment troubleshooting checklists to minimize downtime related to equipment reliability issues.  Uses the Toyota Production System tools and metrics to identify and drive continuous improvement projects across the Milling and Semi-Finishing assets.

·  Ownership for coordinating all maintenance activities for the Milling and Semi-Finishing process areas including maintenance scheduling in line with the Newport site MPI process requirements.

·  Develop trouble shooting capabilities of the Milling and Semi-Finishing production personnel (Working Crew Leaders and Operators) through training and on the job problem solving opportunities.  Troubleshoot more complex problems in collaboration with site support personnel (i.e. engineers, maintenance, etc.) to ensure efficient and effective operations.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Shine With Colors & Effects! Do You Have What It Takes?

 

Required

·  High School diploma or equivalent.
·  Minimum 10 years of operational and/or maintenance experience required.
·  Working knowledge of batch chemical operations required.
·  Knowledge of mechanical and instrumentation equipment operations and maintenance.
·  Computer skills - ability to learn/work with SAP, MS Office, OSI PI process data collection software, and plant distributed control software.
·  Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills are required.
·  Ability to teach/apply trouble shooting skills in a complex manufacturing environment.
·  Well-developed and practical knowledge of occupational and process safety requirements (Mechanical Integrity, MOC, PSSR, LOTO, Confined Space, Hot Work, PPE, etc.)
·  Ability to utilize continuous improvement tools and methodologies to drive sustainable improvements.
·  Passion for quality, continuous improvement and meeting customer needs.
·  Willingness/Ability to occasionally work outside the standard daywork schedule.

Bonus Points

·  Do you have a Six Sigma/ Lean Training certification? Great!
·  Experience working with PSM covered manufacturing processes preferred.
·  Personnel leadership/management experience is a plus.
