BASF is searching for a Field Research Technician to support the Research and Commercial Development (Crop Protection) field program at the Saskatoon Research Farm. This is a 1-year temporary position with the opportunity for employment extension or advancement.

 

 As a Field Research Technician, you will be responsible for...

Assisting the local field biologist(s) in the execution and management of crop protection research programs on the local research farm (Herbicides, Fungicides, Insecticides, and Seed Treatments).

Provide technical support to the field biologist(s) in the areas of equipment operation and management, agronomy, data evaluations, field rotational management, and overall farm operation and management.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 - Management and operation of farm equipment including tractors, sprayers, irrigation systems, and combine harvesters

 - Research plot layout, field preparation, establishment, evaluation, maintenance, and harvesting of field trials

 - Farm site maintenance and management

 - Research data collection and data entry

- Supporting the development and technical training for seasonal research staff

- Supporting a leading safety culture on the research farm 

Qualifications

 
As a Field Research Technician, you will hold:

 

- A Diploma, Bachelors Degree, or Masters Degree in an Agriculture, or other science related field.

In addition;

Actively participate on teams to solve problems or achieve team goals. Ability to share knowledge and expertise with others. Computer skills and proficient in various software programs, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, ARM/SPEAD. Equipment, farm and/or previous small plot related experience is required. A good knowledge of agronomy relating to Western crops is an asset.
