 Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Expert (2000551) – Greenville, OH

Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to serve as EHS Specialist based at our site in Greenville, Ohio reporting to the Site Director. You will provide professional support for environmental compliance and Process Safety activities for both the Greenville, OH and Whitehouse, OH sites.  You will ensure compliance, coordination, and continuous improvement of environmental and process safety programs and projects. This includes providing regulatory expertise and ownership of the site’s compliance assurance process. You will also provide leadership on all aspects of environmental standards by reviewing applicable standards and interpreting associated requirements to the site, and advising site management and the ECN EHS management of compliance concerns.  Additionally, you will develop strategies and programs to ensure compliance to new federal, state or local regulations.

This is an excellent opportunity for you to demonstrate your familiarity with process hazard analysis (PHA) procedures and experience with Title V, MACT, RCRA, EPCRA, NPDES, LDAR, and PHA procedures.

Travel for the role is estimated to be approximately 25%.

Formula for Success

Leveraging your education in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or Environmental Engineering/Sciences and your experience in environmental compliance and process safety support of manufacturing operations (preferably chemical or specialty chemicals manufacturing), you will maintain and monitor existing environmental and process safety programs while optimizing effectiveness and efficiency of the programs.

Your experience with EPA and Ohio EPA regulations will be critical as you maintain and update environmental permits.

Your basic computer skills (ex: spreadsheets, word processing, database management) will be essential as you submit various agency and internal environmental reports and maintain appropriate environmentally related documentation.  You will also use these skills to coordinate the waste management program, including reporting and oversight of the on-site service provider and for implementing and operating EHS standardized processes and administration of related electronic systems.

Utilizing your knowledge of chemical manufacturing and process safety methods and programs, you will perform audits of the site’s environmental and process safety programs. Additionally, you will work with site management to resolve areas of non-conformance.

Successfully engaging within the organization, you will develop effective working relationships with site management, employees, and the EHS community to drive continuous improvement in environmental performance, coordinate and collaborate with the Centers of Expertise (CoEs) on the development of processes and initiatives to ensure continuous improvement in Process Safety and provide collaborative support for the safety and industrial hygiene program.

Using your knowledge/experience with management systems, you will provide input in identifying and tracking appropriate KPI’s and assessing sites’ environmental performance.

Demonstrating any experience you may have in environmental management you will develop and/or deliver specific environmental program training.

Your strong teamwork skills will aid you in participating in and providing environmental and process safety technical expertise for process hazard analyses (PHAs), capital project reviews, EHS reviews and other projects assigned by management. You will ensure that environmental and process safety hazards are identified, and risks are appropriately assessed, communicated to stakeholders, solutions provided, and commitments made are tracked to completion.

Your strong problem-solving skills will be critical to providing incident investigation support as required, including analysis of incident root cause data, development of effective measures to prevent recurrence, and communication of key lessons learned.

Your effective communication and interpersonal skills will serve you well as you facilitate the sharing of programs, procedures, tools, and successfully demonstrated practices within the EHS Community.  You will also use these skills to interface with regulatory agencies and third parties as needed on compliance and enforcement issues.
