RESPONSIBILITIES

The BASF Wheat strategy for Europe is to establish hybrid wheat in the key markets in Germany, France, UK and Ukraine.
The Breeding Agronomist based in Milly-la-forêt is responsible for the production of experimental hybrid seeds and the coordination of field trials data collection for the French and UK breeding programs.

As a Breeding Agronomist , you will:

·  Implement hybrid seed production and field trials plans, in accordance with trial specifications and protocols set in collaboration with breeders and field operations teams.
·  Identify innovative opportunities to improve the efficiency of our processes. Drive the implementation of cutting-edge technologies to leverage automatization solutions and digital tools.
·  Design production fields and experimental trials. Plan and supervise field activities, labor, consumables and logistics. Coordinate field operations from planting preparation to harvest.
·  Ensure the appropriate collection of phenotypic data. Report data in breeding databases and perform statistical analysis.
·  Perform trial visits for the local and national trial network. Ensure regular reporting to the breeding teams.
·  Supervise technicians, contractors and temporary labor, to accomplish field operations according to deadlines and within budget.

QUALIFICATIONS

·  You hold a Master of Science or an Engineering degree in agronomy, in plant breeding or related scientific fields. Moreover, you have 2 years of professional experience in breeding, experimentation, agronomy or similar.
·  You have a solid knowledge of variety testing, statistical analyzes, experimental designs.
·  You have a curiosity towards innovative technologies and field equipment for variety testing.
·  Ideally, you have already worked on hybrid crops or cereals.
·  You have leadership skills. You can collaborate in a multicultural environment and positively influence others.
·  You can work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
·  You are fluent in both English and French.
·  You have a valid driving license.
