Job description

To provide stationary claims handling services within their Region and others when required, while leveraging best practice specific to Lifestyle product management with a key focus on quality and customer service.

The Claims Specialist serves as a champion of Lifestyle claims with a thorough understanding of the Specialty Value Proposition, including all specialty product policies and procedures.

Accountabilities

The role is in support of Lifestyle Claims while adhering to the Protocols established and managed by Property Claims.

  • The Claims Specialist will handle day-to-day Lifestyle claims – this will include the negotiation of both property and automobile losses in accordance with Aviva’s claim procedures and guidelines. Lifestyle products include watercraft, recreational vehicles, motorhomes, mobile home, cottage, motorcycle and other related products.
  • The role requires the ability to review and compile facts linked to the Speciality business, policies and technical reports, analyze estimates, value of claim and negotiate/settle claim accordingly.
  • Effectively advise and counsel the customer on Speciality product knowledge and effectively provide prompt and exemplary customer service while keeping all related parties informed of the claims status.
  • Responsible to recognize questionable claims, subrogation and risk opportunities.
  • Elevated handling product knowledge, technical capability. They will carry an active pending of Lifestyle Auto and Property claims and would act as a resource for shared Lifestyle Claims across Canada for product knowledge, claims handling and coverage counsel.
  • Some infrequent travel may be required in this role.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 1-2 years of Property or Automobile claims experience
  • Working toward completion of the Insurance Institute program (CIP / FCIP).
  • Strong knowledge of claims adjusting practices.
  • Strong understanding of Speciality Product Line.
  • Demonstrates passion for Lifestyle Claims.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be available from 8 am to 6 pm

Must be able to work rotating shifts if needed during regular business hours.
