Counterparty Credit Analyst, Real Assets – Norwich

6 Month Fixed Term Contract

The Role

You will be expected to support Aviva’s Real Assets focus with respect to Real Estate Finance, Direct Real Estate and Long Income, Infrastructure, Structured Finance and Private Corporate Debt.  The various Real Assets teams’ key objectives are to meet the investment requirements of their different fund strategies/mandates in terms of volume, return and risk appetite and to protect the value of the existing book to minimise losses wherever possible.

This position, within the wider Credit Team, will be required to independently undertake credit analysis across a range of corporates and sectors, with responsibility for assessing trading and default risk, providing input into lending decisions, and portfolio monitoring.

The analysis frequently includes companies and organisations with no external credit rating and therefore you can expect to be involved in the assessment of internally assigned ratings through analysis of annual reports and accounts and research.

You will play a key role in the support of both new and existing business and will have a direct impact on the quality of business written and risk profile of the portfolio.

The Team

Spanning real estate, private debt and infrastructure, our real assets platform offers investors access to assets that offer diversification, increased security and the potential for higher returns via an illiquidity premium.  Our real assets capability encompasses global real estate and alternative income investments made around the world. These are physical assets that we buy or provide financing for on behalf of our clients. Transactions to buy or sell are done directly with the counterparty and the price negotiated privately.

Responsibilities

·  Participates in the development, implementation and ongoing operation of the business’ credit risk requirements in order to meet business, Fund and regulatory requirements.
·  Engages proactively with the London & Norwich teams to help the assessment of new transactions and actively monitor existing deals.
·  Works collaboratively with other Credit colleagues (Real Estate Finance, Structured Finance, Infrastructure, Private Placement, and the Fund business, Global Real Estate and Fund Management).
·  Produce detailed corporate credit risk reports and ratings on tenants, borrowers, obligors, service providers and sector analysis.
·  Present results to key stakeholders and credit committees.
·  Preparation and presentation of management information.
·  Contributes towards the credit rating framework.
·  Actions are in accordance with AI Risk and
·  Governance framework.
·  Actual and potential loss events are logged and actioned in accordance with AIS policy
·  Efficient and effective allocation of resources to ensure priority targets are met

Requirements

Essential

·  Chartered Accountant or relevant Business Degree
·  An experienced professional with an awareness of commercial and financial matters
·  Relevant corporate credit analysis risk experience.
·  The ability to apply conceptual thinking to identify and resolve critical issues.
·  High level of proficiency in accounting principles and balance sheet/P&L risk analysis.
·  Able to give advice and guidance within specialisation to staff at all levels.
·  Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise plan and adapt to best use resources.
·  Proven ability to build and manage strong relationships with internal and external contacts at all levels.
·  The ability to manage and engage in meetings, both internal and external.
·  Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to influence decision making at senior levels.
·  Decisive, determined and willing to challenge staff at all levels on key business issues.
·  Excellent analytical, presentation and report writing skills.
·  Recognised as a subject matter expert whose opinions are actively sought.
·  Solution driven and ability to propose / consider suitable risk mitigation to facilitate business
·  Specific experience of developing and operating quantitative and qualitative risk rating methodologies.
·  Knowledge of Solvency II requirements and the management of credit risk for insurance forms
·  Understanding of enterprise risk management concepts

Highly Desirable

·  Ideally experienced working across multiple sectors performing credit analysis of both investment & sub-investment grade counterparties
·  Understanding of Real Estate Finance
