The opportunity

Atos is growing the capabilities of its UK Public Sector Centre of Excellence (CoE) to work with our clients on the digital transformation journey. You will be a part of a multiple disciplinary team ensuring the accelerated establishment of a DevOps culture & capabilities across our clients, as well as supporting more traditional applications development and support. You'll work alongside Java developers, application architects and cloud architects with clients to understand their requirements, contribute to solutions and implement. Ensuring aligned with the standards and polices of the CoE.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include:

Work as part of the wider team to implement development requirements for client applications.

Contributing to proofs of concepts for our teams and customers in response to their requirements and demonstrate them.

Support the writing and/or inputting into bid proposals to architect applications that will make the team and client successful.

Contribute to delivery timescales implementation and cost estimates together based on proposed architecture/design and risks.

Build, test and support of code and tools that enable teams to self-serve for most operational tasks and achieve rapid change.

Understand and follow the polices and standards for the CoE with regard to development

Participate in developer communities, engaging local and global colleagues.

Communicating expertly and work together within a multi-disciplinary team, fostering the open and collaborative culture.

Presenting and depicting the rationale of findings in simple, engaging and easy to understand business terms to a diverse group of partners.

You'll be expected to travel to customer and Atos sites UK wide; working from client/office/home locations as appropriate. Flexible working arrangements will be available.

Skills we can’t do without:

·  Experience of Java EE applications development,
·  You can show an in depth knowledge of JSF
·  Proven experience of implementing unit testing of software, behaviour-Driven Development and/or Test-Drive Development.
·  Experience in front end web development in html, CSS, JavaScript and jQuery. In particular one of the following technologies JavaScript frameworks (angular, react, ember).
·  Background in the development of RESTful Web Services.
·  Use of public cloud services to deliver applications.
·  Problem-solving skills and ability collaborate with developers to overcome development and operational issues.

You will have experience in the following:

·  Contributing to the setting up of development environments in Continuous Integration with a code repository.
·  Data stores - relational and key/value document databases.
·  Help in building specifications and design of applications to meet defined business and user needs, demonstrating a deep understanding of what the user issues are and outcomes.
·  Adhering to the security measures to meet client’s stringent security requirements.
·  Good communication, presenting, collaboration and partner management skills.
·  Able to undertake and successfully gain SC level security clearance checks.

Skills we’d like:

·  Experience of in one or more of these languages, Python, Ruby, NodeJS and Go.
·  Recent experience of developing microservices in a container environment using Spring.
·  Use of either Cloud Foundry or Red Hat OpenShift
·  Qualified SCRUM Master
