Want to be part of something amazing? We have a number of opportunities in our Merchandising teams across multiple categories.

This a fantastic opportunity for a highly analytical Merchandiser (also known as a Junior Merchandiser) to join a market leading retailer which continues to succeed in the current retail climate. You will need to have a passion for providing an enticing product range for customers whilst maintaining commercial ambitions - ultimately you will be responsible for translating and executing the category plans for a given number of product ranges whilst keeping an eye on the commercials.

Yes, you will be measured against a key set of KPI's that will include; Sales, Margin, Stock, and Availability, Digital metrics and Customer Satisfaction, but your eye will always be on doing the right thing for the customer as well as the business!

What will the role of a Merchandiser involve?

You will create and implement a customer driven strategic vision for your ranges in line with the category strategy with clearly defined and measurable initiatives
Manage pricing across category to achieve a competitive position without compromising profitability
Liaise with global suppliers and sourcing routes, and work closely with oversea teams
In conjunction with Buying, comply with buying milestones in the critical path to ensure range launch timescales are met
Develop a compelling promotional plan for the category and liaise with the marketing team to deliver a strong and effective execution across multi channels
Work with the Buyers in managing the supplier base to maximise availability, supplier and depot service in line with agreed KPIs and timelines
Work with the buying team to review weekly trading performance on KPIs and to identify any issues and opportunities to respond to weekly trading conditions
Conduct regular store visits and build relationships with the retail team, gaining a commercial awareness of competitor position & activity
Work with the Buying in the creation of the seasonal plan and strategy for sales, stock, intake margin and markdown within agreed parameters to ensure departmental KPI's are achieved.
Maintaining accurate forecasts to enable robust planning across all areas of the business

Who will be available to me to support me in the role?

Establishing effective relationships is key with any role but internal and external stakeholders at a senior level will be key to ensuring the delivery of the category plans.

You won't be on your own you will have the support of the Senior Merchandisers and Merchandising Managers who will help you optimise the most cost-effective sourcing routes and maximising profit and you will also manage and support the Assistant Merchandisers and Merchandise Admin Assistants who will be part of your amazing team.

What I need to know

Have an understanding of the commercial world, previous Merchandising experience required preferably within a non-food omni-channel retail environment
Product, market and customer knowledge
Ensuring customer feedback is used to influence decisions made
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-moving dynamic retail environment
Technical knowledge of merchandising & planning systems
Confidence to influence and engage, building relationships with key stakeholders
Identify and lead continuous improvement in your area
Lead the team to deliver top levels of engagement
